Default Zen Drive

I love mine. I loaned my Klon clone to a friend, gzve the Analogman and Tube Driver to my son, tried a Blues Driver and decided the ZD was my favorite into my Deluxe Reverb.
Anybody else have one?

I've never played one before (or even seen one) but I have read great things about it. Is it modeled after a specific pedal (i.e. Klon, TS, etc)?

I don’t know. It doesn’t sound like a Klon. A friend gave me his clone. He said it sounds the same as the original he owns.

Zen Drive falls into the D-style pedal idea. They rate very high, among the best in that category. If a pedal sounds good to you, it is good!

Robben Ford used a Zen Drive through a red knob Fender Twin when he wasn't able to bring his Dumble amplifier. So, I guess the Zen Drive would be Dumble-ish in tonality.

I got mine after hearing about it from a guitarist named Tony Darren. He grew up in LA and took years of lessons from Ted Greene. Tony plays smooth jazz with stellar chops and p own his gear.

The Zen Drive is a nice pedal for the Dumble-style thing for sure - one of the first to attempt that. It's been around for a long time now for good reason. There are now, or have been, many Dumble-clone pedals, and the success of the Zen Drive is probably a big reason for that. I've played a couple of Zens and they are nice. I don't own one, but I do have a couple of cheaper D-style pedals that are pretty cool also.
Have fun with yours.

That's the comment I saw during my quick review - Dumble. Sounds like the Zendrive is more of a distortion then OD?

I use three overdrive pedals 1st Timmy, very 'transparent'. I set the amp clean and I have it set just to sound like a mildly pushed amp. Great for rhythm and R&B sounds. This is then sent to a tube screamer. This is set to a little higher drive level. It pushes a little harder and it's scooped character helps cut through the mix a little better. These then go into my Zen drive, set only mid-drive. This smooths things out and compresses to give that sustained singing tone. I use them all three in every conceivable combination

This is interesting a Dumble style drive/boost pedal The web sight is a bit confusing apparently the original maker Hermida Audio has now partnered with
Lovepedal.com. but on my computer I keep getting 404 errors "page not found"
However I do get this page to open still with 404 warning at the top http://www.lovepedal.com/zendrive/
But apparently this new Zen costs $239 which is certainly less than the other "new hot ticket" Double Dumble style pre amp pedal , the Cornerstone " Gladio" at over $400 US https://www.cornerstonegear.it/products/gladio

I spent the morning poking at the used market for the silver ZD I own. Prices range from $189-$650.

I think it leans more toward overdrive. Robben Ford's tone is kind of a subtle OD. I do have a Zen Drive clone and I set it for just a slight OD.

I got one of the very 1st 20 Zendrives ever made.

It's signed by Alf Hermida inside the pedal.

I used it for a few years when I played out,but it hasn't been used in about 12 years now

I went through a phase when I tried to buy all the "Pedals of the Month".

Now I have a couple of plastic containers with a lot of pedals that I'll probably never used again.

I have no plan to sell them until I retire, and see if they're still worth anything at that time.
