Thanks for asking!!! ...here is my Doerr Legacy.
Malachite inlay in fretmarkers, soundport, and bridge pins.
The malachite stone on the headstock is my stick-on addition, which most of my guitars have, and Tom cannot be blamed for that!
French polish, BRW back and fretboard, Adi top.
Man thats really nice I thought about getting the French polish looks like it turned out really well awesome guitar

I’m sure you made the right choice. The French polish did not mix well with my skin chemistry! So there’s some aesthetic issues but I don’t regret the choice.

I'd like to know more about this. I have contemplated French polish before. Do you corrode strings quickly? I have this problem with uncoated strings.

Thanks for asking. I am not very knowledgable about this. No, I don’t corrode strings quickly, even uncoated strings last pretty long for me. I do know what you mean...some folks can pick up a guitar and after a 1/2 hour of playing it needs new strings! This is not me.
I’ve seen the finish on another guitar’s neck get weird from me playing it. But mostly my guitars are just fine.
On this French polish guitar, there are visible effects on the soundboard, where my fingers rest, and where my right arm touches the side and top. It is not a discoloration, it just appears kinda raw and unfinished there.
So I suggest further research if you’re considering French polish. I do see the grain and pores in the wood on this Doerr, more than any other guitar, it seems I can feel them, and I love that! So I don’t regret it but if I ever had to sell it, someone will complain about the affected area. I don’t plan to sell it tho, so I’m happy as a clam with it. It’s a keeper...I will play it as long as I’m able and hand it down to someone very lucky then. And the ‘affected areas’ will remain part of the character of one of the worlds best guitars!

FYI I have a much older Doerr with standard finish, and it is still flawless.

Default Doerr MD

Congratulations on your new Doerr MD. Tom builds amazing guitars and yours looks like a beauty.

I can say first hand from owning a guitar with the Tunnel Redwood - African Blackwood combination that it is a stellar choice from both visual and sonic perspectives.

Looking forward to hearing yours when you have time to record a clip. Enjoy!
