What's your studio/recording space like?

Converted 9x12 basement bedroom, with carpet and wooden paneling. I've moved the mattress and box springs so that they're flat against the wall.

What are your goals for recording your acoustic music?

My band is going to record it's second CD (the first was done in a pro studio). Doing so will allow us to be more picky with more control throughout the process.

What kind of music do you like to play/record?

Folkie-pop.

Is your studio space treated? How?

Not much. I've decided to use an sE Electronics SPACE for vocal isolation.

What's in your mic locker?

We'll be using one mic for everything... a handheld Miktek PM5.

Recorder? DAW? Interface? Preamp? FX? Plug-in's? Ext. HD's for storage? Monitors? Headphones? Power amp? Controller/mixer or completely ITB? Cables? Mic stands? etc.

iMac running Reaper and Melodyne 4 Essentials
Apogee One interface
Audio Technica M50x headphones
Mackie CR3 studio monitors

Favorite mic pattern/placement for recording acoustic guitar?

One handheld cardioid condenser mic on everything (vocals and instruments)... a Miktek PM5.

New gear you have your eye on?

I may spring for an AKG C214.

How has home recording evolved for you?

I'm just learning.

What's your studio/recording space like?
corner of basement about 10' X 12'

What are your goals for recording your acoustic music?
I pretty much record for my own pleasure. The process is as enjoyable as the end result.

What kind of music do you like to play/record?
Rock, folk rock, Americana

Is your studio space treated? How?
I have moving blankets on the two walls and a third 'wall' was created with more moving blankets

What's in your mic locker?
Shure SM57, Audio Technica AT2035, Audio Technica AT2021, Radio Shack 33-3032, Naiant MSH-1

Computer-based or standalone recorder?
I use an old Korg D1600 which is a stand alone device

Recorder? DAW? Interface? Preamp? FX? Plug-in's? Ext. HD's for storage?
Besides the previously mentioned Korg D1600, I have 2 M-Audio DMP3 preamps, a FNR RNC compressor, and an Alesis Nanocompressor.

Monitors? Headphones? Power amp? Controller/mixer or completely ITB?
I have Audio Technica ATH-M40x headphones and KRK Rokit 5 monitors.

Favorite mic pattern/placement for recording acoustic guitar?
Most of my mics are cardioid and I typically place them where the neck meets the body. The distance depends on the guitar and the sound I'm going for.

New gear you have your eye on?
I am not looking at anything right now.

How has home recording evolved for you?
I started recording bouncing between 2 portable cassette decks. I then got a 3 head Sony TC353D reel to reel recorder. I've had 2 4 track cassette decks, a Boss BR-8 digital recorder and now the Korg. I've basically evolved by increasing track count and hopefully, I've learned something along the way.

I would also like to mention that I have 5 electric guitars, a bass, a digital keyboard, a couple of amps and a real drum kit in my little place...

Windows 7

Recording area: a corner computer desk

USB input - Tascam US-122

Software - Audacity

Condensor mics on desktop mic stands:

AKG Perception 150
Rode NT-5

I just realized that recording in a corner may explain some of the boominess I get in my recordings. Time to move back a few feet

Thinking about getting a Zoom H5 or similar model.
