ok, three measures....then we get to the 4th measure...

"Why does it sound like so much more when you do it...it's just three notes..." says Sammy Student...

well, actually, those three notes comprise 60% of the major pentatonic scale...so , I'd suggest changing your outlook....but

the underlying pulse...actually...don't want to misuse the word.....the underlying subdivided pulse....

whatchya doin there...?

straight 8ths?

swing 8ths?

straight 16ths?

swing 16th?

a triplet thing? a 12/8 thing?

yeah, we're playing whole notes, but ......

things NOT heard in bedrooms across this country....

That was great!.......

...

....

....

Don't do that again.

the WR quote......

you do....you observe....you chew....you learn....you act differently.....

repeat the root in the 4th measure...

..but come from a different angle...

....if we had just one more note we'd have 80% of the major pentatonic...

...don't forget the rhythm......

so...

how do you come from a different angle????

?????????????

time to start developing the rhythm a bit more....

"make it a bit more complicated" and similar statements are vague....

vagueness is one of the enemies of instruction and learning....

instead of four whole notes....

think in terms of rhythmic relatives...

still gonna have the same 4 notes happening on the counts of "one"....

but......

with total disregard for what was said about vagueness above....

the exact definition of 'rythmic relatives' is not known to me...different people use the expression differently...

but anyways....

example by definition works well in such situations....

huh?

definition by example....

who is drinking too much lately?

short posts...

like someone once said....

I can't define it, but I know it when I see it....

let's say you play

4 beats of E

4 beats of D

4 beats of C

and then 4 beats of C again...

short posts.....

we want to jazz up the lick...

we have things to consider...

Will Rogers...

Musical concepts (that have nothing....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to with the guitar specifically)

guitaristic concepts (techniques such as sliding, bending, hammering, pull-offs, grace-note hammering and pulling, etc...)

Da$n spurs!
