I buy often online, almost always. Why? Because the traffic around here can be crazy. Ever drive on Route 17 in Paramus? It's a highway with a 5-7 mile stretch of store after store after store with people driving on the shoulder because they can't decide what store they want or can't get the nerve to merge, people tail gating, driving too fast or way too slow, no signals when changing lanes and they walk on my lawn too!

Give me Amazon, give me Sweetwater!

Sounds like you found a great semi-local mom and pop store. Build a relationship with them and you'll be set. If you don't know their name, ask for it and use it every time you visit.

Online shopping has been good to me. I live in a small town and the closet big city is a 4 hour drive. I've bought 6 guitars online in the last 10 years and only one that I regret buying which was an RK resonator that I couldn't play or get the action to where I could play it, I've determined that it needs a neck reset. All others were great, I scored a Martin OM18A back in 2019 which definitely help me through the lock down days. Right now I'm Waterloo curious but I think I'll wait for a while to see if the availability goes up and prices go down. Of course if I had the opportunity to try out guitars before purchasing I would definitely do that.

The Covid lockdown got me buying online.
It is so convenient to do now.

I have 3 local guitar shops but they usually don't have the strings, straps, tuners and other smaller items that I use.
Sweetwater has become my local shop.
You can't get more local that your mailbox or front door.

I quit Sweetwater. One too many online adds. And they are seducing YouTube channels I used to like too. I used to buy the full disclosure Sweetwater sent me this to review but in no way did they tell me what to say. Slag products and see how long they keep doing it.

Just go review some of the Stanford psychology studies, where normal people could be convinced to do pretty harmful things. Marketers make boat loads of money. They are good at it. Get that dopamine fix as often as you can. Understanding dopamine and how it works in the brain. Then quit whatever behavior you hate yourself for doing, whatever that is.
