How nice is that! A beautiful guitar and an appreciative smile to go along with it. Congratulations on getting such a sweet guitar. I hope that you enjoy it for a good long while.

I would explore as many different brands of 80/20 strings you can get your hands on to refine your preference for feel, tension, and other subtle variations. As long as you’re in bronze territory, just think of it as a gold mine.

Congrats my friend. For clarification, I don't think I said: "Don't get the J-45."
Based on your diverse and highly advanced playing style, is a J-45 the "one guitar" that best suits you? (Chet Atkins fingerstyle to flamenco with a lot of Jazz inspired Chording to Beatles to Jack and Diane) I've heard you play and you are a very advanced professional-caliber guitarist/musician. I'm not sure you are J-45 guy (for someone who has ONE acoustic guitar). I asked; "Are you a J-45 kind of player?" I was simply inviting you to soul search and research J-45's. Is that the sound that suits your playing style and the tones that make you the most satisfied? So Yes, I am a Martin fanboy and yes, D-18's rock my world. But yours is on another level entirely. That is a SPECIAL guitar. The Sinker Mahogany is 200 years old and has magnificent grain! That cross silk on the Sitka top is some of the nicest I've EVER seen. Welcome to the D-18 Club!

Congrats on an amazing guitar!! I had Sinker mahogany D-18's on my radar when I went searching for a new Martin and all it took was playing a Reimagined D-41 for my search to end! I know that guitar has to be special to take down a 41, because you couldn't get me to sell mine for ANY reason!! Enjoy it and play the strings off of it!!

That's a beauty, for sure! Love the silking on the top and that grain pattern on the back you just don't see in hog guitars. Very nice. I wish I could play dreads. I took a D-18GE in trade once to try it out knowing my shoulders can't handle dreads and I was right about that. But that tone was to die for. I need to find D-18 tone in a single or double 0 body!
Congrats and happy birthday! |

Love the 41!! Have u played the 18 sinker?? It's a different voice yes but I feel it wins but this could just be a rosewood hog preference [emoji3] Last edited by chasingchet; 08-16-2019 at 11:00 AM. |
