Looking for an arrangement of Prelude to Cello Suite #1
Hi all
I'm looking for an arrangement of Bach's Prelude to Cello Suite #1. I have Michael Hedges' amazing arrangement, but alas, no harp guitar Any ideas? |

There is Tab out there for it. If I'm not mistaken, I think you actually need to tune your guitar like a cello, but I could be dead wrong. The only time I've ever seen this done live was a friend of mine was a cello major, and I asked him to play it on my guitar. He tuned it down like a cello and went to work. It was beautiful.
He did it immediately after hearing this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjaRamzJUfk |

from here -
http://www.shambalah.com/bwv1007.html and near the bottom of page here - http://www.thegearpage.net/board/sho...d.php?t=457107 I have scoring software that can transcribe it in TAB for any tuning - including DADGAD

I've done an arrangement in CGDGAD which is basically a transcription of the original cello score. I haven't done a recording for youtube yet,

I've always liked the Michael Lorimer transcriptions of the 'cello suites, the six preludes are available in one volume or the suite number 1 complete.
There's also a free download from Eythor Thorlaksson at the Icelandic Guitar School:http://www.classicalguitarschool.net...d.aspx?id=1006 I haven't played this version, but generally his transcriptions are decent. Brad

This is one of my favorite tab sites. Tabs are given in both tab and standard notation, which I prefer, and they are generally very good.
Cello Suite #1 is BWV 1007, look down almost to the bottom of the list: http://www.classclef.com/johann-sebastian-bach-composer Dave

[EDIT: never mind, just realized it's all of them! Prelude is a little ways down in the list].

My favourite is by Per-Olov Kindgren. He has notation/tabs available on his website, and you can here him playing it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F1tgImEymU

I like Stanley Yates arrangement in C from his 6 cello suites book. Sounds nice on nylon or steel. Good luck with the Bach.

It is many years later, and I found some tabs on the web but nothing that allows to play Hedges version on anything close to standard tuning. So I made an attempt at transcribing it in A for drop D tuning: https://musescore.com/user/32780613/scores/5667904

You might get more response in the Classical section.

https://www.scribd.com/doc/6207528/C...tation-and-TAB I just play the first section, which is my favorite, and still work on getting it smoothly and uninterruptedly played -- really quite an ingenious arrangement -- lovely.

Here's a link to the Segovia-Ponce arrangement.
http://www.free-scores.com/download-....php?pdf=25533 The other option would be to acquire the cello score and do your own transcription. Either way it's a great piece. Good luck, whatever you decide. |

I arranged the Cello Suite Prelude some while ago, to essentially make it a little more flowing on a steel string rather than a classical guitar, changing the fingerings on some of the more established versions, and converted the Tabledit file to a PDF. I can email the PDF if anyone wants it. |
