Just watched the video. It's a guitar modeler. Still a few months before it hits the US and the costs are currently in negotiations with the distributor. "Not that expensive" ... guess around $300?
I'm not interested in guitar modelers but if I could get a good one that made a Les Paul sound like a Strat I think I'd get it just to play SRV. I feel so much more comfortable on a Les Paul than I do a Strat (scale length). |

I'm very interested in this. I used to own a Line 6 Variax guitar and always wished for a pedal that could produce the same results.

I will admit that I am highly skeptical of the results this pedal could produce. The Line 6 Variax (I have a JTV-59) uses an entirely different pickup system for the modeling than it does for the non-modeled guitar tones. And there’s a good reason for that.
For a pedal to claim to do the same would need similar technology, I believe. How can you expect a pedal to process a signal coming out of a 4K single coil the same way it processes the signal from a hi gain 15K active humbucker? The demo of the Strat and Tele model still sounded to me quite a bit like a Les Paul...thick and wooly. Perhaps for that very reason. And if the booth setup (i.e. marketing) is any indication of the company's R&D (pictures of guitars printed on computer paper and pinned to the walls...really?), I’d need a lot more proof before dropping dough. Line 6 CEO Marcus Ryle said at NAMM that since being bought by Yamaha several years ago, they plan on overhauling the Variax line and I expect them to do a Variax Helix with the same ridiculous power and processing as their now flagship modeling unit. I think I’d save my money for that product first.

Quote:
What is your opinion of the technology Cuki? My rather untrained electric guitar ear didn’t find it very effective. The acoustic models were even less so, to my ear.
