not to mention the craziest origin story. At 16 joins Santana... But only after turning down Clapton because "there was too much drug usage in that band"

Just a tone...my earliest guitar tone I fell in love with was the Fender electric lead part on the theme song to the TV shoe "The Munsters".

When I hear music, I'm like a kid in a candy store - everything looks good. I find interesting things in even the most insipid music, and I've always been that way. I can honestly say that there's no single sound that shaped me. I still hear things that I don't know, and I get that "wow, that's cool" feeling all over again, just like the first time I heard Chet Atkins or AC/DC or the Beatles. When you get old, there aren't a lot of things that still seem fresh and new and surprising, but a good guitar tone from a good player with a different perspective is one of them.

I bought a Signature 175 in 2000, but sold it a few years ago. Shouldn't have done that.

Mick Taylor's solo tone did it for me...
@ 3:26 the solo here ... @ 4:40 the solo here... @ 2:39 the solo here... @ 3:01 the solo here.... Last edited by rockabilly69; 01-04-2021 at 03:00 AM. |

Well that's two of us And then there's Mark Knopfler! It seems his tone even gets better as he ages!

But... I still remember the night I heard disc jockey Jonathan Schwartz play B.B's Lucille on New York City's WNEW-FM. That was my Damascus experience!

Certain licks get me rather than a certain "tone."

My brother bought this LP when it was released. I was five years old, and I loved it. When he was in school I would sneak into the basement and play it again and again. Loved that sound. Still do. |
