Default NGD: Furch Yellow OOM (Redcedar/EIR)

Yes, honey...it's another guitar!

After waffling-and-passing on three previous examples of this model over the last year or so, I finally pulled the trigger. This one came from AGF sponsor Bill at The Fretted Buffalo. Thanks for the great transaction, Bill!

It's a great sounding guitar straight out of the box. Nice EIR rumble, good balance of overtones and string separation, very responsive to the touch, good headroom for a cedar top. It will take some flat picking/strumming, sounds darn good doing it!

The ergonomics of the 14" body and the long scale 12 fret configuration really work for me. Nice silking in the top, nice grain in the EIR.
I like the amber aesthetic of the tortoise binding against the EIR, as well.

Pleased as punch! I look forward to playing this one in.

Thanks for looking!

That's a beautiful small body Furch! Curious how it sounds compared to your Sitka Rosewood OM? I have Sitka Rosewood Grand Auditorium that I love and would like to hear your take on the smaller body Furch models!

Thanks...I be digging it. I've put a couple hours on it today and she's a sweetie.

I've played a few examples of each of the Furch body types you mentioned. My takeaway is the OOM and OM have good tonal balance with a bit more bass presence and string blend in the OM. To my ear the GC turns up the bass response, somewhat separating it from the other registers. i.e. a bit more boom.

This OOM is more crisp than my OM, with more string separation. There's nice bass and "rosewood rumble" in the OOM, slightly less compared to the OM. Keep in mind that the OOM is a brand new guitar...who knows how the tone will change with age. Obviously this is a bit apples-to-oranges due to the cedar vs. sitka tops.

Another difference is the sensitivity. The OOM opens up with a lighter touch, but doesn't have as much headroom as the OM. Cedar vs sitka, no doubt.

Both nice guitars with Furch's signature modern-leaning tone.

I love it! I am no expert in guitar design by any means but there is something about a smaller body with a 12 fret and scale length that puts the bridge right in the sweet spot of the lower bout that interests me. Seems like it will allow a smaller body to sing with everything she has. I hope this is a dream maker for you. Congrats!
