The Tonedexter is gone. The update came after I passed it on.

I just notice that both Trance and Dazzo have triangles in their logo. Trance even has a triangle in the A character.
Both are "alleged" evolutions of the FRAPS. Here are pictures from Arnold Lazarus patents:

I once inquired of Gary Hull about the number of sensors inside a Trance Amulet. I mentioned I thought that because of the basic three geometric planes and Trance's description "poly planar" that there were likely three sensors inside an Amulet one for each basic XYZ plane. He remarked that there were more than three sensors, I'm thinking perhaps he has an extra sensor or two mounted to sense vibrations in angular planes in addition to the XYZ planes? If I install my Trance Amulet Phantom M-VT with Loctite 6-Minute Epoxy Gel and waste one or two while removing them if I don't like the amplified tone, I'll be sure to look under the hood of an Amulet to see what's going on.

Using the Soundhole C-clamps, as I've mentioned, is actually one method Trance recommends in their Amulet mounting instructions. I just revisited the mounting instructions and see that this is the case and I didn't imagine it:
"Remove the red plastic backing using an X-Acto type blade at a corner, and peeling it off. The red backing sticks pretty well and takes a bit of work to cleanly remove it. Once the backing is removed, carefully place the pickup in the spot that you’ve defined with the template, and press firmly into place. After a successful placement, put medium pressure on the pickup using a pickup or soundhole clamp for 8-12 hours. This is crucial for the pickups to securely bond. You'll still be able to remove the pickup later by applying steady pressure to the side until the bond comes loose, but it will stay stuck on its own until you wish to remove it. We have enclosed enough tape for several installs." Trance also recommends the "turnbuckle pickup clamp" method but doesn't mention moving it around to different areas of the Amulet to hear the best sound before imparting the clamping force for 12-hours: "It's useful to listen to the pickup through headphones when you apply the clamp with the low E and A string strung up for the low pickup, and the high E and B string strung up for the high pickup. When the clamp is properly applied and tightened, you'll hear the volume and bass response excessively increased because of the direct pressure being applied to the pickup. When the clamp is pushing straight up and down against the pickup and the back of the instrument, the volume and tone will increase the most. Don't overdo it; you'll find that it doesn't take much pressure to get optimal results. Once properly clamped, let the pickup bond to the bridgeplate overnight (12 hours or so). When you slowly remove the clamp, the volume and tone will drop to normal levels, and the pickup will be ready to use." Comprehensive Amulet Mounting Instructions .PDF

Yikes! Cuki, I'm sure hoping not to destroy an Amulet but I'll take pictures if I do.

Gary Hull told me that on the phone. If I remember well. He probably wrote it to me... But my english is not good enough to understand those things at once.

The additional Pickup Clamp instructions at the bottom of the PDF, state to adjust the turnbuckle pickup clamp pressure until you hear the tone in the earphones get its loudest and then leave the clamp pressure there overnight for 8 to 12 hours. The instructions don't mention moving the clamp around on the pickup to find the best tonal clamping spot. The pliability of the "permanent tape" remains pliable and can be rolled off the pickup with thumb pressure even after two years of being installed. I feel that any clamping method, or none at all, would be as good as any other as I feel the pliable permanent tape, even if it was compressed slightly under pressure, would just return to its initial thickness after clamping pressure is removed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pressure-sensitive_tape For my DIY pickup project I used TESA 4965 which is 200 microns thick and is pressure activated.
