Default Experience with a Northwood Les Paul?

Hello AGF Crew,

I love my Northwood acoustic. It's an amazing guitar that punches two, three and four times above its price point. I've never seen, let alone played a Northwood electric. I'm wondering if anyone here has and how your experience with a Northwood electric compares with mine (and many AGF vets) experience with Northwood acoustics?

Thanks,
Jake

Hey Jake, I'm not familiar with Northwood so I looked them up. Is this them? Out of Canada?

Yes. There's a bunch of YouTube videos on them that Shoreline Music did a while back. I've owned a Cocobolo 000 and now play a Brazilian 00. I've been to Dream Guitars (NC) Acoustic Music Works (Pittsburgh), Rudy's (NYC) and other shops to try to find guitars that outclassed them, and its rare, even in shops like that.

No idea. I've also never seen one either, but am a big fan of lots of Western Canadian builders. Hard to imagine Northwood not getting the neck joint right.

If you enjoy 25.5 necks, Larrivee RS les paulish objects are wonderful and a real bargain on the used markets.

Well, I went for it after checking in every few days for the last six months. Arrives on Tuesday. Excited to post a NGD.

My Northwood L00 is an amazing guitar.
Since I got it, the Merrill and SCGC are languishing in their cases.

I'm very interested in John McQuarrie's take on the Les Paul.

The Northwood came in. The flamed maple is absolutely 3D in person. When I reached out to John McQuarrie about the guitar, he said he's only made a dozen or so of these, including one for himself, out of the hundreds he's made. I'll have more to say, but the sound is outrageous, clear and just itching to push. If you've got money to buy a custom LP, this is a work of art and all the playability you could imagine.

I can't upload photos for some reason, so a Reverb link is below.

Wow! Just a beautiful guitar.

Here's the link to the reverb site you provided. Is this your guitar?

Thanks for the assist.. That's the guitar I'm holding. The pictures aren't even close.

I know it's cliche, but Northwood cures GAS.

My 00-12 fret does it all for me and cured me of acoustic gas. Anything close is triple the price, especially for Adi/Braz. This Les Paul is at a level that beats out my 00-12 in fit, finish, and feel. The necks are smooth, mid-C. Easy to work with. I can't imagine something that comes close at any where near this price point either.

Time will tell, but GAS is on the ropes.

It sounds like a fantastic "Les Paul"! What amp are you playing it through?

A Morgan JS12 that the AGF helped me get to. GAS is on the ropes.
