Les was my favorite musician, and the guitarist who influenced me the most.

Couldn't help but remember the 2001 Coor's commercial - Young rocker: "Do you play?" Les Paul: “I've been known to.” after Les wails a bit Rocker asks “What’s your name?” Les Paul: “It’s on your guitar.”

What an understatement "I've been known to."

I remember watching those Les Paul and Mary Ford tv shows when I was a kid. I couldn't wait for them to come on.

I have the Fred Waring CD with Les Playing and Jimmy Atkins, Chet's brother singing.

You can detect a strong Django influence in those songs.

That is sad, it brought to mind the "log" and his innovative spirit.

I was really saddened to learn that Les Paul passed away today. But like others have mentioned, he lived a long and interesting life. He will be missed.

Default Les Paul: God rest your soul

We lost a great one today:

http://www2.gibson.com/Gibson.aspx

I don't even like electric guitars, but I feel a great loss. When some people make it to 94, you think, "What a great run." With Les Paul, I can't help thinking, "Couldn't we have kept him a while longer."

Rest in peace, Les.

-Bob

Default Good bye Les

Anyone who plays any style guitar owes a nod of appreciation to Les Paul. I have two Les Paul's and they are the last guitars I would ever part with. Check out some of his early playing and be amazed.
