Taylor w/Vintage Open back tuner???
Anyone with Taylor swap out their tuners with vintage style open gear tuners such as Waverly or Gotoh ?
I’m all about making my guitars lighter and vintage style is typically 1/4 lb lighter in general. Much challenge or modification doing this? Cheers! Last edited by SKYHIGH; 12-14-2019 at 08:35 AM. |

I’ve done it several times with both Waverly and Grover Sta-Tite open back. It does lighten up the head and changes the balance point but I think the results and aesthetics were greatly improved. Just be careful when you drill the 12 new holes!!!

I think open back tuners would look great on the 32X models....

I always swapped out my stock Taylor tuners for Gotohs if they didn’t come from the factory with them, but now that I’ve got open back tuners on my Bourgeois and Martin, I’m a huge fan of them and think they would look neat on the Taylor head stock.
