Thanks Bob, much appreciated. (Even though my playing sorely lacks some jazz chords....)

Kind of rocking out there at the end, the Yes reunion band might be calling.

Does two new videos in one day seem like overkill? Well, when it rains it pours around here... This one is of our Italian Spruce/Primavera OM. Thanks for watching!

I love those two guitars. I played them for a nice long time, comparing them to Ryan's red gum OM. The main reason I came home with the Red Gum was because my name was literally written inside it. If it had come down to sound alone, I think I would still be trying to make up my mind! All distinctly different, all wonderful sounding.

Thanks Stan. What we've been doing lately is learning to write backwards in very tight places. So, we can retro-fit your name in lots of guitars. If that helps?

Yeah, sigh...there's 40 years of pent up frustration for ya. The only way I could do a Steve Howe song justice would be IF the reunion band was so old we could all play more slowly. It would be fun, though!

Your recordings sound great Steve. What is your recording gear that you are using?

Tim, we basically use just a single Rode NT3 mic about a foot away from the instrument. It’s recorded straight and no EQ or modification in post.

Now the long answer: For the video, I use a Nikon D500 with the Nikon add-on microphone. I record the scene audio directly with the video so I have a way to sync the audio later. I record the NT3 mic into a Zoom H4n digital recorder (which has its own mics that are good, but I don’t use). The Zoom supplies the 48V phantom power needed for the NT3 mic (but you can use a 9V battery). I just let the Zoom record the whole session as long as it takes in an uncompressed WAV file.

After recording, I download the video and wav files to my Mac, and I use IMovie to build the final video. I sync the waveforms through the software to make sure everything lines up, and then I roll off the camera audio completely. I tried before to mix them, but it never sounded right. The Rode NT3 sounds great. It’s the first “high dollar” mic we’ve used, and honestly couldn’t be much happier. Our shop isn’t the best studio, but we’re pleased with the results for now.

Thanks for the question. Hope this helps.

They both sound great brother, and really, I think you should consider demoing your own guitars at the next festival

Shucks, it sure makes using a CNC a walk in the park compared to all that! Thanks for the detailed response guys.

That's a kind thought, but remember we're trying to sell them, and not scare people away!
