Default A Bit Of A Martin Morning.....

My Martin CEO7 is at the luthiers getting the loose binding fixed and instead of going in to a huff about loose bits, I am having a 'Martin Day'!

So had toast, coffee then out came the 2006 Martin 000-28EC, such a delight! (binding good!)Played a few fingerpicked blues, and EC knows which specs suit that! Then went trough some fingerpicked tunes from a book, then some C blues off the top of my head:

Took the dog in the car to the beach, walked along the sandhills then the water edge.....then home and out came the big gun - my Martin OM18 Authentic! (Binding good!)

More blues and then,....more! Then fingerpicked some tunes from the book (100 Most Beautiful Fingerpicking Tunes), then a couple of impro blues.....Wow!!!

Tough, eh? I sure can spoil myself!.

that does sound like a great day! love the 'let's not get into a huff and enjoy what i have' attitude. i always appreciate the fact that your love for guitars and playing tunes is apparent in your posts. and, as ever, sweet guitars!

how are you liking that book? (100 Most Beautiful Fingerpicking Tunes)

are the arrangements compelling, from a solo instrumental guitar perspective?

i appreciate your mentioning the title as it wasn't one i knew of; thanks!

Thanks....they also have 100 Most Popular Fingerpicking Tunes, I have both.

You could play them straight as written (TAB/music solo fingerpicking arrangements based on the vocal lines), or you could perhaps play the chords and sing, or take off on your own after getting the pages down.

Err, never heard of a lot of them, true we could look them up, have some...but if I don’t know it I don’t know where they have been!

The famous ones well and truly make up for it. I have memorised a few and on the way with others.....Every Breath U Take, Wonderful Tonight, Yesterday ....197 others! I have a go at some new ones most days.

I picked up the EC from a secondhand/pawn shop place a couple of years ago, covered in dust and maybe mud plus strings that were growing things on them! I had my luthier torture it into shape and it is sensational...

I often wonder if I had come up with the cash somehow for the EC I played in about 1998 if that would have been my only guitar....it just really suits me, neck, sound etc. Ha ha, BK777 the one guitar guy.....hmmmm.

Na!

Imo the Martin 000-28EC is one of the best models Martin offer, they always sell well. And they play/sound just as good. Nice.

Love the aged top on the EC, but that OM-18 Authentic is sensational!

They stopped making the OM18 Authentic around 2018. A quick search shows that a new mahogany OM with an Adi top is pretty hard to find.

Inexplicable but true.....oh well, I have mine. Onliest, only catch is the Authentic is a bucking bronco twin turbo and needs a light foot or a spinout is coming up....

Whereas my EC is very well weighted for my playing, trying to be dynamic. Beautiful tone. I can coax beautiful sound out of the Authentic but it is not a beautiful tone, if that makes sense.....
