Please tell us how you finish that carved area. What do you do in the stippled areas?

Simply stunning Tony. Your work on the peghead is perhaps the most impressive. Several have said, “wow!” Let me add another:

Hi John, I am grateful for compliments from such a fine builder as yourself.
The stippled areas are bunches of little dots made with an electric graver with a custom tip I made for it. Years ago I used to use a little phillips screw driver...it looked very nice but took FOREVER!. The electric graver is a little faster but still a slow process.
As far as the finish goes...well...I am currently working on it. The initial plan was for the carvings to have one thin satin coat to keep it looking "natural". I should know this week if it's gonna turn out like I planned or if im gonna have to visit my shrink over the whole deal...

I just wanted to check in with everyone. I'm still working on the finish. I have leveled the initial coats and will be spraying the final coats this week. I appreciate y'all hanging tight. It's looking awesome!

I had the pleasure of visiting my friend Tony's shop last week. I was out in Boone North Carolina to attend a wedding and took the opportunity to go over the Blue Ridge Mountains to visit Tony at his shop in Erwin Tennessee.

I was able to see this beautiful guitar in person. He was working on the finish. Guitars always look better in person than in a photo. The headstock inlay was just incredible. The Brazilian Rosewood was also gorgeous and the carvings are a uniquely beautiful contrast. This guitar is just spectacular and really special. I feel fortunate to have seen it in person before it goes off to the lucky client.

While I was there one of Tony's clients came in to pick up his new instrument. It was fun watching his excitement and we all enjoyed a little concert while he played it. I also got to see some of the beautiful guitars Tony has in progress for the BIG IV show. I can't wait to see and play them at the show.

I'm looking forward to all the photos when Tony has this guitar completed!
