Smile Blackstar Travel Guitar

I’m looking at two extended trips and need a travel solution. I don’t want a remove-the-neck suitcase type Guitar. Has anyone had their hands on one of these? Seems as if there are very few real world reviews and only sponsored YouTube videos.

Thank you!

Based on your information I've got the sinking feeling that this one is Euro-market only - you might try the Thomann or Andertons websites (TMK they both ship to the US)...

I've not played/seen one, but that 20" scale length they're trying to fix with heavier strings (12-54s) would be something I'd want to hear/feel, before buying.

I also like a bolt-on neck for a travel guitar, as it allows easy shimming, when needed.

In your place, I'd also look at Traveler Guitar - https://travelerguitar.com They use a typical scale for each guitar type (strat type - 25.5", Les Paul type - 24.75"), and normal weight strings. They're also headless, so they're shorter, overall (28.5"vs. 29.9"), though that causes more annoying tuning and string replacement (but you won't break a headstock). Bolt-on necks, too.

Neat looking little thing, but that scale is SHORT. Sorry Blackstar, but that's never going to feel like "a full size guitar" to me.

I don't know - this guy seemed to do OK with a 20-3/4" scale and 12's:

No, they’re available here in the US, so that’s not a worry.

Well, I don’t really need it to feel like a full sized guitar, so I’m taking all that with a very large grain of salt .

I’ll give them another look, though the strings passing on the tail end of the guitar have me a bit concerned from a packing standpoint. I like the body pass-through idea on the Blackstar. Thanks!

Not sure what their shipping looks like these days, but one of these fit my needs perfectly

https://snap-dragon-guitars.com/

There’s a thread or two here about them, and shipping (pre-COVID) was really quick

And there's an open box unit for $307.

I've tried one of these and it feels pretty much like a regular guitar, even seated.

The built-in headphone amp has no reverb and I would add a Mustang Micro to have the perfect setup. MF has it too and you get 8% points.
