Thanks Brendan...I was close to buying your killer J-45 but already had those bases covered. Hope you have quick sales on it and your OM/PW!

Sweet, sweet guitar, Jim! Just gorgeous...and as I look at it I can practically hear it’s bold voice. Congrats, my friend.

Oh my goodness that is a stunningly beautiful creation right there. I hope you post a full NGD report with audio here sometime. Well done!

Stock picture...mine are ALL straight...I checked. The King of OCD! Although Brendan may have me beat on the tuner bushings lining up just so?

A few years ago I remember a local pawn shop had one of those, but it was black. I didn't know much about guitars then but I saw "Gibson" and knew it had to be great. I asked if I could play it and when I did it sounded just awful.
Looking back, I realized the strings were almost completely rusted and I'm sure that didn't help matters any. Anyway, they were asking over $3,000 for it (used) and after playing it and being thoroughly disappointed, I never even picked up another one since. Maybe I'm going to have to give them another look.

That's Gibson's own photo, with the slightly-askew tuner? Or from a Guitar Porn book? Or...? At any rate, it's pretty funny. And not atypical.

It's from Wildwood Guitars website of "guitar porn"!

I would swap those out for Grover Vintage 135 tuners anyway. They look much better on that guitar.

yep...those "Roto-Matics" are very short term Do the 135's fit back without modification?

I also like to keep the new tuners parallel to the centerline of the headstock, which can also make the existing screw holes not quite line up. I've seen these guitars with the tuners aligned to the arc of the side of the headstock, but that looks odd to me. |

Like Brucebubs, I’m envious. I’ve never owned a true jumbo. The J 200 is the classic.
Even though the style of playing I’ve fallen into is best suited by smaller guitars, I’ve wanted a J 200 for decades.

My first one too. I've tried a couple of small jumbo's (George Carlin would have a field day with that term!) in the past but never the real thing. And like you, I've always wanted one. My other guitars are dreads (standard, slope in 12 and 14 fret) so it'll be nice to have some variation.

I have a few different versions of the SJ-200 and they are remarkably versatile (with the exception of the 12-string, for me at least) with respect to playing style. I always thought, erroneously, that my smaller guitars were better for fingerstyle, but these Jumbos sound quite fantastic with a light fingerstyle touch.

I'm amazed at how much you can get out of these guitars with a set of .012's.
