Default Is my 2007 D28 Marquis Madagascar Rosewood?

So I emailed Martin the other day requesting any information on my 2007 Martin D28 Marquis giving them my Serial Number.

On the Data Sheet that I received it states that my guitar has Madagascar Rosewood. I am not familiar with this wood and to this point had just assumed that my guitar had East indian rosewood back and sides.
The Data sheet was Titled Pre 2014 D28 Marquis

All the appointments , such as Nut, Bridge pins, End Pin and saddle are Fossilized Mammoth Ivory.

Is this true that all D28 Marquis guitars dated before 2014 Had Mad. Rosewood?
What do you think? Thanks

I have a 2005 D-28 Marquis and it is made with EIR (standard issue).

If you could take a photo of the back of the guitar and post it here, we’ll tell you in two seconds if it’s Madi or not.

In 2007, they made a D-28 Marquis and a D-28 Madagascar Marquis. The Madagascar Marquis had a special label in the sound hole and it should say the model on the neck block where the serial number is. The EIR looks like EIR in that it’s very dark and very straight grained. The Madagascar ones were not quarter sawn so have a very uneven grain that some people looks nicer, but some prefer the straight quartered look.

Here is a 2007 D-28 MM

The spec for the ‘standard’ D-28 Marquis was EIR, and that’s what the vast majority of instruments had. The instruments with Madagascar were designated ‘D-28 Marquis Madagascar’ (abbreviated D-28 MM), they were available at a significant up-charge, and were comparatively few in numbers.

If the labelling in the guitar doesn’t say it’s a D-28 Marquis Madagascar, it’s EIR.

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

Default Thanks

Thanks guys for the replies.
Looking back I guess I was just wishing and hoping lol.
I can tell instantly that my guitar is EIR. I was just thrown an "Oh, Maybe" when I got that email from Martin.
Def. EIR.
I must say I love the look of Brazilian and Madagascar RW Martins ,but I won't ever be able to afford them.
Thanks again.
