I actually like that phrase when the problem "victim" uses it. It shows that they acknowledge that their complaint isn't a big deal, in the grand scheme of things. That makes me tolerate them much more.

Some here are more egregious than others:

- Somebody else's crumbs left in the mayo, or jam in the butter.

- Neighbors who put their dogs outside at 2 am to howl and shriek with every breath they draw for 3-4 hours.

- Conducting required training/counseling for someone at work only to get a shrug and, "It's all good."

- And my favorite... Punchline Jumpers! A singer in one of my bands was famous for this.
"Hey Tinnitus, let's hear about that time you told a girl she was drawing her eyebrows too high, and she looked surprised! Go ahead and tell that one. Guys listen! Tinnitus has a funny joke for you!"

For years, my major pet peeve was my next door neighbours who had a procession of West Highland terriers, which they had no idea how to train, so they barked all the time (not literally).

They sold the house in December. PEACE!

Ironically, we got our cat a few days before they left. It is a mature Burmese/Serengeti cross which is the NOISIEST domestic cat you've ever heard! Seems so unfair to our really nice new neighbours.

Pet peeve no.2. Our neighbours on the other side are lovely people. Being Eastern/southern European, they tend to talk rather more loudly than us uptight southern Brits. We get on well, but they have two young sons, intelligent polite kids, but they are 13 & 17, and the eldest has a punchbag set up in their garage which leans against our house (yup, bad design).

His thumping the punch bag at every night is driving me up the wall - but he's 17 and in lockdown, whatcha gonna do?

This one bugs me too. If you stub your toe and I break my leg I’m worse off but your toe still hurts.

Yes indeed :I think the phrase may not actually be used or acknowledged enough. I think the only way to keep any kind of objective perspective is to understand that many, if not most of our personal "mountains to climb", are not really all that steep

I think the Nashville songwriter Zane Williams, gets it......

Yeah, get those cats on a leash!

How are you to control where a cat wanders? Don't allow them outside?

I have a couple of pet peeves regarding websites:

Websites that load so many ads that everything jumps around for the first 15 seconds, making it impossible to read the content.

Websites that insist that you MUST WATCH THE VIDEO - WITH BLARING SOUND.

Websites that take any mouse movement toward the top of the page as a sign that you are about to close the window and pop up a huge subwindow offering to e-mail you updates every day.

Websites that insist you disable your ad-blocker in order to read the story that you just clicked on because it looked interesting. Well, I'm not gonna do that. You could have just shown me a couple of sidebar ads and gotten the revenue from them, but now you're getting nothing...

Okay, that's more than a couple. I guess I'm just not a compliant consumer.

Several years ago a young woman was hit by a car and killed crossing a street in NJ. In response to that a NJ law gives pedestrians the right of way when crossing in a cross walk. Cars must stop so the pedestrian can go. It’s a logical law designed to protect pedestrians. And I’m sure NJ is not alone in enacting it.

I am a full time resident of Pennsylvania but we have a second home in a South Jersey Beach town.

With Summer upon us, such as it is this year, my #1, Grand Slam, Ultimate, Hall of Fame Pet Peeve is the morons that are head down phone staring and blindly walking into traffic assuming all cars will stop. And they are doing it everywhere, not just in crosswalks. Seriously, it’s kids, teens, adults and, especially disturbing, parents with small children walking into traffic. It is maddening. I do not mind stopping but give a guy a little notice, please!?!

And to further add to my annoyance, in the current pandemic, as municipalities and governments are treating people like children-“wash your hands”, “don’t touch each other”, “don’t touch your nose”, “stay home”-we are reversing generations of the first lesson most of us we thought: LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE YOU CROSS THE STREET.

Ok, I’m done....

I have a few pet peeves! One that I find irritating is when someone posts in a thread and the point is obviously made, but the analogy could be better and the other posters try to throw the point being made aside!
One reason I don’t post anymore than I do. All too often the thread gets side tracked with this type nonsense! YMMV😁
