Two Guitar stands - an amazon story.
I like the basic K&M folding guitar stands. I have many but decided I'd like a couple more - but only the original design , not the newer ones, which are more expensive. Earlier this week
I ordered two to get free shipping. This was the first one : Wednesday, 17 February - 12:16 PM Package arrived at an Amazon facility - Rochester, Medway GB 1:32 AM Package departed an Amazon facility Rochester, Kent GB 6:31 AM -Package arrived at the final delivery station Swindon, GB 10:29 AM - out for delivery Swindon, GB 2:19 PM - Delivered - behind the wheelie bin Ok ! So where is the second one? I didn't arrive today so I checked on the Amazon site, and this is what i saw: Ordered Tuesday 16th Feb. Thursday, 18 February 7:18 PM Package arrived at an Amazon facility Köln, North Rhine-Westphalia DE Friday, 19 February 12:53 AM Completed customs clearance process KÖLN, NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN DE 6:00 AM Package departed an Amazon facility Köln, Loading... DE 7:38 AM Initiated customs clearance process Derby, GB 7:48 AM Completed customs clearance process Derby, GB 1:17 PM Package departed an Amazon facility Castle Donington, GB 2:58 PM Package arrived at an Amazon facility Bardon Hill, LOADING... GB Delivery, possibly Monday. Why I ask myself does one have to come from the Uk and another shipped in from Germany? Now, of curse there is all this Customs business. That's progress I guess.

They had one in stock and had the other dropped shipped from K&M (Koenig & Meyer) in Germany.
That's okay. I've got an order in progress from Pen & Sword books in the UK for a book by a fighter pilot who became part of the Battle of Britain flight and whom I later met and spent some time with. First order: August, 2020. Didn't show up. Resent November, 2020. Hasn't shown. I've been waiting on a British diecast model of a German tank that was sent from Poland (Poczta Polska) on February 4. I tracked it t the point where it left Europe for the U.S. February 10th from the Warsaw international mail depot. Its somewhere in customs. Bob

At least your delivery people have a bit more common sense than this end of the country. My son had a delivery hidden in the wheelie bin............... On bin day. The bin was empty.
It always amazes me how far a parcel can actually travel on its' trip. I posted something to the East Coast of the US. Tracking said it had arrived at Los Angeles distribution depot ready for final leg. 8,000 miles for a 3,000 mile trip. At least I got my money's worth. |

Everything - buying and selling into the EU is now going to be slower and more expensive. If/when either me or my family wish to sell my guitars the buyers will need to pay 20% tax plus , probably 5% for the paperwork, so my "wooden investments" have just dropped in value by 25%.
