Hi BT,

Welcome to this little but exciting section of this forum. I am another big fan of CF guitars. I remember when I was in a similar position as yours quite a number of years ago, no amount of encouragement or persuasion I got equaled the moment I took a leap of faith, ordered a Rainsong sight unseen (the WS Concert, one of the models of a new line that was just launched that time), held her in my hands and played the first note, my jaw just dropped! That time, my most prized wood possession was a Taylor GA Limited Edition (Cedar/Walnut). I'd never forget that moment. It made my Taylor sounded like stuffed socks and i realised i had to go higher up the chain so my wood guitars don't get redundant alongside my CF guitars.

I have owned and sold quite a few but I always had one or two CF in my stable alongside my wooden guitars. CF brings such interesting variety to the table, for example;

1) The former Rainsong WS Concert i had owned has such exceptional clarity in the bass registers that it would have given my Collings a run for their money
2) All CF that I have owned in the past posses ridiculous sustain surpasses their wood counterparts at similar price points
3) The CA Cargo and Journey Instruments CF, these are tiny guitars but I have yet to come across a wooden guitar of the same size that can sound as full and warm as them unless you spend 3-4 times more for a boutique build O or OO size.
4) My latest CF (Emerald), say no more, countless review and threads here on the forum. They are just a work of art.
5) I had a VoyageAir VAD-01, sold it as soon as I discovered CF.

Hope you can try one out, they are that good.

Well yes that is a good sounding guitar. But I rather suspect Johnny there could make even an Estaban sound good!

Alright you guys win!!! I sold two electrics this week and GASSED for another guitar. I've been listening to YouTube videos with CF guitars and to my disbelief I really liked what I heard. The furnace humidifier in my house died and I'm running two humidifiers at full bore to keep up my humidity. Hoping repair parts arrive soon!! Got to keep my wooden acoustics happy!!
There were no CF guitars at any of my local music stores so I did some research and decided on a Rainsong. I bit the bullet and ordered one from Musicians Friend to try out. I ordered an open box Rainsong Concert Hybrid CH-OM that they had for $1199 but I called MF and for $75 more I ordered a new one. It's Back Ordered until 2/20 but I can wait. I'll post a review after it arrives.

No BT55....YOU WIN! You have chosen the guitar I own, and while I'm gassing to play them all, my RainSong is not going anywhere (I bought it in 2014). You got yours for a great price too-I would love to hear your thoughts

Last week I went to Sam Ash Music in Richmond VA for the expressed purpose of playing a Rainsong Jumbo and a Taylor 12 fret. They only had one Rainsong in the store and it wasn't a Jumbo. (BTW great store there in Richmond )
They did have 2 Taylor 12 frets:
$3,349.00= 700 Series 712ce
and a 322Ce 12-Fret Grand Concert @ $2,149.00

The 712ce was a great disappointment regarding Tone, feel/playability.
The 322Ce Sounded better, same grade on the feel/playability.

My bass player was with me for the trip, and his only comment was, "I don't understand why these are so pricey. They don't sound near as good as your Rainsong."

I am a big fan of Taylor & Martin, but as a musician that plays 15+ hours a week. My Martin and Taylor rarely get played since I bought my Rainsong in 2012. ($1,600)

Musicians Friend called today to let me know my BO'd Rainsong CH-OM date had been pushed back. They made me a great deal on a Rainsong Hybrid Series H-OM1000N2 which is in stock and an upgrade from the one I ordered. 14 fret with an upgraded Fishman Prefix+T system with onboard tuner. Yep, I bit and it's on it's way!!

Great guitar....beautiful clarity and note separation along with impressive volume. Took the Fishman out of my Rainsong, left the opening as a soundhole, and installed a K&K....but that is my own particular pickup preference. Enjoy your new guitar.

I've been a big fan of the K&K. But Alistair persuaded me to try the new Barbera and I'm loving it. It is incredibly sensitive to string touch, well balanced, and true to the acoustic sound. Something to think about...........

I've been a fan of the K&K and have had it in numerous CF guitars. Alistair persuaded me to try the new Barbera in my new guitar and I am impressed. It is incredibly sensitive to string play, well balanced, and reflects the acoustic properties of the guitar. A new option to consider.................

I had a K&K installed in my AGF Shorty.

Other than the cost advantage of the K&K I am reasonably confidant I wouldn't use one ever again. Every time I have to drag out a DI box or pre-amp I regret not spending the extra for a Fishman.
