Here's John Prine with Steve Goodman on lead. Never a finer acoustic player lived. Steve was JP's best friend until he passed from leukemia in 1984. What a player.

Here they are on Prine's "Souvenirs" together:

Finn and Frame are two of my favorites. If you're a fan and haven't seen the acoustic set the two of them did together (with Graham Gouldman of 10cc) for a BBC show in the last 90s, I recommend it. Someone did a playlist on youtube with most of it, though not in order: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKGk...CNbiVH805FNH2B .

A couple of artists that I first heard 20 years before picking up the guitar, Don McLean and Cat Stevens (Alun Davies).

Alun Davies was a supporting guitarist and backing vocalist for Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens is the stage name for Steven Georgiou who converted to Islam in 1977 and changed his name to Yusuf Islam. Here is one of his better known songs:

I started playing guitar in my mid-50’s and experimented for several months before dedicating myself to fingerstyle. The biggest influences towards that decision were John Fahey and John Hurt. The biggest influences towards my current personal style are my instructors from Swannoa Gathering, especially Clive Carroll and Toby Walker plus my classically trained instructor (been with her six years now).

John Denver when I saw him live as a young boy and Cat Stevens... JD influenced my finger-style/finger-pickin' early on and my early writings as well as my voice; Cat influenced my right hand rhythm technique and use of percussion/beats. In addition Jeff Beck was my electric hero and heavy influence in melody, letting notes breathe and swell.

Fretkillr

I'd probably still be electric only without all his Youtube uploads a decade ago.

I sound just like Tommy Emmanuel, except, I don't play quite as good and don't know his songs and I'm not a performer and I'm dull and boring. Tony Rice must have been "off" that day, he's a great performer so you must be very good, leonski!
