Default K&K Double Helix…any real world experience?

Hi all,
I’m considering one of these for my little Sigma copy of a Gibson CF-100. I have a Sunrise in there at present but it’s such a light guitar that the Sunrise holds the top back a little I feel.

I know the K&K is a lightweight, passive mag but very few people seem to be talking about it, positively or otherwise.

Has anyone tried one? Would love to hear thoughts if so.

I've the Double Helix + Pure Mini installed in a 12-string. I've used the Sunrise on other instruments, 6 and 12. I like the tone from the Helix, I like the adjustable height of the individual magnets (like the Sunrise or pretty much any other magnetic pickup). What I dislike is the pre-amp. It does a nice job but the dials and knobs internal interface are a pain in the butt AND it eats batteries like nobody's business. But if you aren't using the DH in conjunction with another pickup, you'll not need the pre-amp and the set-up will be completely passive. It is indeed lighter than the Sunrise and might very well all additional top vibration.

Which Sunrise model are you using?

The Skysonic Pro-1 is a similar nice option. 3 pickups in one. A nice mag, a soundboard transducer, and an internal mic - all in one package.

I'm liking it in my travel guitar. I ordered another one.

I have a Double Helix pickup. I like it quite a bit. I've owned other mags, a Sunrise and a Baggs M1, and I liked those too. The Double Helix' tone switch is a nice addition, as is the polarity reversal switch. I use it with a K&K mini in one of my guitars, both pickups blended together before EQ (Pendulum pickup/pickup module) and run that into channel 1 of an SPS-1. I use channel two for an external condenser mic. Sounds great and behaves very well.
