NGD - 2018 812ce-12 Fret

Well this one surprised me. I have had quite a few guitars including my recently acquired R. Taylor Type 1 which is spectacular. I sold my entire collection boutique guitars and all with the intention of the R. Taylor being my only guitar. It serves that purpose but is a GS and it is a little large for practicing much more than an hour. I though well how about a GC that might sound large. Well these Andy Power tweaked Bob Taylor designs are very special IMHO. Small guitar, so easy to hold, and easy to play. That R. Taylor is spectacular but wow this thing all things considered makes me question if the size is worth it as I get a little older. Almost like a GS Mini but large enough to qualify as a full size guitar and stage instrument. It is loud, crazy loud, louder than it deserves to be at 3.8 lbs and such a small size. Loud is a generic term but when an instrument is so small it just strikes you. I played it at work a few days ago and my co-workers immediately said wow that is loud is that electric? Something special about the 12-fret. Tone for days, nice and balanced with a bass thump that can be present or not, depending on attack. Very happy to get one of these. Bob loves the 12-frets and now I know why!!!!

PS- I chose this one over a 814 v-brace model. Wanted the smaller size, 3.8 lbs vs 4.8 lbs.

Love mine. Going on two years now and still has the GAS cured.

I also once had a 2007 R. Taylor Type 1 Alpine Moon Spruce / EIR. Long gone now, sold to an AGF'er but I still wonder where it ended up. Amazing guitar. S/N was 207

Gorgeous guitar! Congrats! I had one for a while but it ultimately didn’t fit my playing style and had to go. But it’s a superb instrument.

GAS cured for me as well until next time :-)

My R. Taylor is #108. Guess it is a early 2007, probably among the first of the year based on the small number they made per year.

Only thing left for me to decide on this one is if I leave the pickguard or not, what do you think? It won't leave a shadow and I am skilled at removing them but the solid rosewood design sorta grows on me. Hmmmmmm

Nope, leave it on. That’s the best looking pickguard you can have on a guitar and it will not show pick marks/swirls ever. I’ve had my 812ce 12 fret (same as yours) for 3+ years, pickguard still looks new.

I think your spot on. Still love a naked top though.

For anyone that is interested bone absolutely works fine with the ES2 pickup. Some simple adjustment of the three transducers and it is spot on. Sounds as good as it did with the micarta saddle. Accousticaly it sounds better with the bone.

The rosewood pickguard is my favorite aesthetic change made to the 800 series by Andy Powers. It is classy looking. Congrats!

Congrats...That is a great looking guitar.
I would leave the pick guard too....

As for 12 fret guitars, I love em'... so comfortable, well balanced, great tone. (IMHO)
