Ahhhh, i see...

Never have had the chance to play any Alessi tuners, maybe I would prefer them - who knows!

It's a small (but not trivial) detail, but Alessi agreed to make the tuners to a 21:1 spec (normal Alessi & RObson tuners are 18:1), and I find this rather helpful when dealing with the 24" scale length guitars.

Both gentlemen manufacture their tuners to a very high specification, and that's a good thing for anyone interested in this kind of highest-quality product!

Meanwhile, the guitar sounds pretty nice, eh?

Yummy guitar all 'round - those clips sound great and the build detail is mesmerizing.

As long as I have known you (almost 20 years now?), you have always had spectacular guitars in your hands. Too bad I didn't get to see this one when I last passed through your area.

All the best to you and yours.

Oh man, that is so nice--congrats both!
And I must comment on the top: what a lovely piece of wood.
Gotta love a really good piece of Sitka.

Steve

Pete,

This is not the "classifieds" area, so I am reluctant to get into that issue in this sub-forum.

If you have a question you can contact me via PM, or via email...I prefer email.

Interesting that I'm hearing the 'note quality' probably due to the reduced tension, which sounds like a steel strung equivalent of the tone / pitch classical guitar sound, reminiscent of Pat Metheny 'sound' but not as more extreme pitch modulation he uses with the chorus effect .

Geordie,

FYI, using medium gauge strings on the 24" scale gives a few pounds *more* tension than light gauge strings on a 25.5" scale.

I think what you're hearing is more the tonal qualities that Simon builds into all of his guitars.

Makes sense Larry, I'm glad to hear someone can produce an alternative voice that's attractive and usable.

Wish you could hear it in-person and purely acoustic...it's quite impressive.

I had some friends over this past weekend, and we had Traugott, Matsuda, Claxton, Tippin...and the Fay.

Whew...great array of guitars, and the Fay more than held it's own.
