No worries, Tom--I was just funning ya! It's been awesome to watch all the recent build threads on the forum here lately. As we've all mentioned before, we really are lucky and blessed to be able to commission and enjoy such fine works of art--and to be able to watch them unfold and come to life right here!

Keeping the progress going:

This is a picture of the completed side braces which are made of spruce. They are located directly below the cutouts in the linings made for the back braces. There is one extra one located between the last cutout and the tail block.

Also the vertical groove in tail block will receive a piece of reinforcing wood to help prevent cracks along the grain. Steve is going to use something from Australia for this giving this guitar wood from North and South America, Africa, Europe/Asia, and Australia leaving Antarctica as the only unrepresented continent.

I am so amazed at how nice the inside work done by these world class luthiers is considering you really don't see it unless you are peaking through the sound holes.....I guess that's OK although it just seems a little creepy

Looking clean and concise ... as it should on the "inside". This box will be closed up before you know it!

Default Cool sides...

Are those notches for the interdigitation of which you spoke of on another post?! Really like that squid eye peering up from the lower bout--maybe he's from Antarctica?

Yes exactly. The braces from the back will lay in those notches. Antarctic squid hmmmmm. Like it.

Default More progress

Work has begun on the sound port. I have been back and forth regarding the port as like Cigarfan had mentioned in his build thread, personally, I don't care for unbound ports that just look like a hole cut out of a perfectly good side. So Steve and Ryan have been very accommodating and are doing a port bound in koa with a little different twist that should pull from the rosette design. I am not showing the sketch as I would rather have it appear to us all as the work continues on it.

The first pic shows some of the internal support being put in, an extra side brace and a black veneer. More support will be added later, but this is it right now.

The next shows Steve cutting out the koa that will end up being the binding for the sound port...

I'm like you--I've always preferred to have the soundport bound--gives it a much more finished look IMHO. Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out!

Oh him???? He is a new Marvel superhero called....

Magicalsound Man, with powers to create the perfect guitar sound and look with the simple wave of his hand, another guy, lots of work, great woods, years of experience and 6 months or so....may not make a good movie, but it is working for me!

I believe they are thinking of casting George Clooney to play the role in the movie.

Who is he? A man so simple he has to wear his ID...so that when asked how to spell the name, he just grunts and points to his shirt.
Or where he is from--always a trick question--same response.
Back to the port...this one will be different. Hopefully, since it will always stare Tom in the eye, delightfully so!

And to me, the most significant part of this post was the complete and I guess, obvious acceptance, that George Clooney is apparently perfect for the role... No denials needed!!!

You didn't mention that George is only in the picture (no pun here) only because I turned it down!

Well, George would be the most obvious choice for the visual aspect of the part.
But because of the inherent dangers involved in lutherie, I would suggest Tom Cruise play the part.

Perhaps Liam Neeson would be a better match chronologically???? Just sayin'

Yes, some things are sooo obvious, it is not worth putting in print....
