With the lull in build progress due to the weekend, I am being a little self indulgent and posting a pic of the final rosette again. I am just so pleased with how it came out I wanted to post it again.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

Thank you!

It's a torus. I think they come cheaper.

Dave, thanks for chiming in, though I confess I began to glaze over trying to read the article. Speaking of glaze--they stated a real world example of a torus is a doughnut. We love doughnuts. So Tom, breathe easy. Ellipsoid fee waived!

First, Thank you Steve for waving the ellipse fee....I was already trying to figure out what to cut out on the plans to make up for it!!!

More work from Steve:

The first pick is the sanding of the Spanish Cedar linings. As explained to me, they are glued in not flush, but sticking over the sides, then put into the same sanding block and sanded to the same angle as the sides were. If you look on the lower left corner of the picture, you can see the angle that the linings have been sanded to. I find it interested that Steve said the Spanish Cedar emits a spicey smell when sanded and then when the smell turns sweet again, you know you are down to the BRW again. I'm hoping for that sweet smell to turn into a sweet sound in a couple of months!!!

The second picture is a "dry run" of the back fit so that Steve could measure and cut the braces to the correct length as well as marking the braces in the lining so the lining could be cut out to accommodate the braces....I think I have all that correct. The center line of the back is marked with the masking tape and held in place with small pins and the large rubber bands:

Great to see that awesome looking BRW back again almost in place! Gonna have a closed up box pretty soon--looking good, Tom!

More bridge work.

These pics show routing of the saddle slot:

Next drum sander being used to scoop out the wings. According to my inside sources, these are taken down to 1/8 inch at the edge:

Next pic shows the rough in done, now hand carving begins...no pics of that as Steve is alone this week and it is tough to carve and take photos as well as maintain all fingers while alone....

And final pic of bridge completed, polished, waxed, and buffed and put away for save keeping until fitted onto the top!

Thanks for following, please comment at will or ask any questions and I can find out the answers for you!!!

Thanks Nemoman, it is going fast now. Once it made it to the top of the list it seems to be flying by. The sound port construction/design is up next I believe and then we will have a box.

I look at the BRW and try to imagine what it will look like with finish and it is hard for me to do. So many of the builds look 100% different than you think they will when the finish is applied. It is exciting and a little nerve racking at the same time!!!

Yup. That is some purdy BRW. No worries. Finish will do good things.

Like your bridge too. Nice shape. I've always been a fan of the smile (or curved) configuration of the pin row. Heard it also helps ward off splits.

It's really pushin' forward now. Looking good

Tom, that wood will EXPLODE with beauty under finish. Be at peace my friend.

I personally love the way this guitar is coming together.
