Is AC/Dc still AC/DC post Bon Scott? Are The Rolling Stones still the Rolling Stones post Brian Jones, Mick Taylor, etc?? Is Van Halen still Van Halen post Diamond Dave (ok, this one is a tougher call!)?
If they are no longer the Who, somebody better tell them that |

They are far more the Who
...than a tribute band. They are precisely 1/2 of the heartbeats, and arguably the greatest quantity of the art of the band.
I missed out on the Beatles and Petty and a few others I wish I'd seen. I know I'll feel bad if I don't seize an easy opportunity while it's there.

I have to point out
...that many think of John Entwistle as the best bass player in rock-n-roll. I don't hold that opinion, but his playing is CLEARLY 5 or 6 steps up from just thumping the root note, like some players did.
His technique became a measurable part of their sound, and is quite unlike anyone else I can think of.

Saw them April 2017 at The Sheffield Arena, Sheffield, UK. They were very good indeed. Zak Starkey (Ringo’s boy) was on drums - he is a great player.

When tickets because $20 all in for lower bowl seats I couldn't ignore it. Great show. They brought an orchestra.

I saw The Who once, on their Farewell Tour back in the early '80s, IIRC.

Take Don Felder out of the Eagles during his time with the band and see what you get. His guitar part compositions are as much a part of a lot of those songs as anything else.

Only (kinda) saw them once. My band opened for them.
The only access to the stage was through the audience and so they rushed to the stage door ... guess who was coming out of it when they arrived at full speed ! Never found out who (sic) it was that stamped on my chest!

I saw them in the late '80s in a large stadium performance. I think they had Simon Phillips on drums by then, but Daltrey, Townshend and Entwhistle were awesome. I don't remember what we paid, but it was worth it.

They're good, engine is still running.

Saw them in the spring of '69 at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago. We were right at the edge of the stage, in front of Pete. Amazing!!! Then later that summer and the next one, too, at Tanglewood. Always incredible, high energy, all-out performances. One of my all time favorite bands. Moon was an incredible drummer, and played them like they were an instrument on par with Townsend's guitar. And Entwistle's bass runs on My Generation are iconic. In college I had the most powerful stereo system in the dorms, and one of my friends brought over the single for Pinball Wizard the day it was released. We had it at full volume for the acoustic guitar coming through the right channel, and were blown away by that huge booming note that thundered through the left speaker. Those were the days...
