Default Ashokan Farewell - fingerstyle arrangement

I know it's been done a lot, but it's such a nice tune, and this really easy arrangement is a good one to learn for beginners I think. Hope you like it. The melody is just played over the bass notes of each chord, it's simple but it works. I think if I were to make it a performance piece I'd add extra to it.

Real nice arrangement. Drop D gives it some added depth. Although I play this tune frequently (in standard tuning), your rendition pointed out some melodic points I’ve been glossing over so thanks! The song grabbed me while looking for an American tune with a feel similar to Si bheag Si mhor . You give it a lovely, warm vibe.

That's brilliant - subscribers get the odd bits of tab I have to hand if anyone wants to learn anything. 👍

And thanks very much to John and Bob, I'm touched.

That was really lovely Mike!

What an appealing arrangement to a great composition. You get wonderful tone from that classical guitar, too! It sounds great!

That was a nice arrangement. Sometimes less is better.

BTW your youtube link in your signature isn't sync'd with your Mike Fowler guitar youtube channel.

Cheers, I've changed to a branded account in the last few months, and didn't realise that wasn't working. Thanks for the heads-up.

That's really kind of you, it's very much appreciated. There are no tabs for this, it was simply a very straightforward melody with the bass notes for the chords. DM me on here, and I'll send you some tips. I may do a full "how to" arrange, using this tune.
