This has been such a fun and lighthearted thread. I wish all the discussions in the General section were the same!

Being nice doesn't mean being plain vanilla boring. Besides, taking guitar discussions too seriously isn't too healthy...

Agreed if we all liked the same things life would be intolerably boring. I am just glad you are not on the wait list OH WAIT I'm not either

As a rather opportune coincidence, John just posted a video on his FB page (https://www.facebook.com/johnmayer/) which features the new Sliver Skyy -- but the headstock is kept out of frame...

All in the perception of the perceiver, looks to me like the studio rack is kept in frame

Although the sound is lacking ( camera mic) but the headstock is in definitely in frame

Yeah well I'm glad I caught him in concert last year...

Let's not forget that JM was one of the early adopters of relic'ed Fenders and certainly the highest profile endorser -- so this wouldn't be the first time that he sets the trend for a distasteful product.

Ha! perhaps there is a large appeal for us distasteful people

Funny though that his Fender John Meyer Strat was not relic'ed
and neither were his 63 and 64 vintage Strats they were just authentically "vintaged"

BTW our cars are cousins and share the same gauges...

Interesting how a three letter company made the old traditional mini just so so, much better

Back in the 70s, the founders of Kramer Guitars had a fondness for Mercedes Benz cars, thus their lineup adopted a numbering scheme for each tier on their product line... Fender, PRS, you may have to take this cue!!!

This thread is getting worse and worse. Should we discuss hide glue?

I already feel nostalgic...

Keith Urban, who is an amazing guitarist and performer, sounds completely bland and flat when trading licks with John.

JM is such an incredible player. For rock/blues, he may well be #1 in my book.

Stopped by my local Guitar store while running other errands yesterday to see if they had gotten in any more SS's besides that first black one . He told me that yes a red one came in, but it was the same story, and was out the door in about a 1/2 hour from the first calls he made .
I also stopped by the local GC and they are having a guitar-o- thon sale and I spied an American Elite Telecaster in a bright candy apple red burst, which I thought was gorgeous, and on sale for $1499. But decided not to try it out, for fear my picking hand might slip to my wallet pocket
