I bought it. (Kinnaird content)
Remember the "while the boss is away" Kinnaird threads?
More than 30 of us voted on the details of Ryan's solo build. Well, I finally got the chance to play it last week (after three visits to the Kinnaird shop), came home with it marinating in me, and now I'm going back to Nacogdoches tomorrow to pick it up. I love the sound, the looks, and even the history of it. I can't believe it was still available!

That's awesome! So glad that it's found a good home.
Congrats to you and Ryan!

Thanks, Paul and Nemo! Before I decided to buy this I thought I should get all of the "management" to kick in a hundred bucks or so and then have Ryan draw a name out of a hat and the winner get this guitar, but then it occurred to me that if I actually won the drawing it would looked rigged! Sorry - I wanted it too badly! However, if you are ever in Austin, come on by and play it - your name is in there too!

That was an intelligent purchase. Full Mark's on your guitar judgement

Thanks, John. I suppose I have to excuse your bias since, according to Ryan, I am now part of the Kinnaird family too!

Well I've got a lot of fond memories of building this guitar! I spent a long time designing my 100th guitar to build with Steve and my third solo build. Then, I realized how much I enjoy getting others involved with my projects. I just couldn't resist getting my favorite online community to vote on how it all should come together, and I couldn't have been more pleased with how it turned out.
I'm beyond ecstatic that Stan is taking this one home with him. I tried hard to come up with a way that I could get this to an AGFer in Australia, but in the end customs, visas, and shipping just became too much. However, for it to go to someone who voted on the process, it just seems right. Congratulations again! I hope this special beauty brings you much happiness. |

No bias here. I've seen the guitar. It's great.

Congratulations Stan! That is a beautiful guitar and the build thread was so much fun. I play my Kinnaird pretty much daily- welcome to the family!

That guitar was a screaming good deal. If I wasn't overstretched I would have snatched it up, and I tried to encourage a friend to take it. I am interested in what kind of sound the Eucalyptus produces.

Thank you, Beth, for welcoming me to the family - I am honored to become a part of it! I'm very happy that I had the opportunity to meet Ryan and the Kinnairds in person - they are warm and wonderful people. Not to mention the opportunity to play a number of their beautiful works! Jamiejoon, I probably can't give a very good answer to your question about the Red Gum - not yet anyway. I was comparing it to a Primavera guitar and a Bubinga one (all had Sitka tops) - nothing standard in the bunch. I would say the Bubinga was more rosewood like, the Primavera closer to mahogany. I wouldn't put mine smack in the middle but maybe a bit more toward the resonance and richness of rosewood also. I'll be able to describe it better after playing it a week or too.

Congrats and indeed welcome to the family. BE careful, one leads to two and the next thing you know you have four!!!
