We played last night at a local winery.
Generally a hard surface noisy room. One of the band members just bought a bose L1. We set it up behind us and it was wonderful. We could all hear ourselves fine and filled the room with sound. Really quite remarkable. |

Hello!
I play at some gigs acoustic...and some gigs plugged in. I've noticed that, at the acoustic gigs, the audience shut up and listen. When I'm plugged in, it somehow seems to give the audience licence to talk over me. My songs (all original) need the audience to be able to hear the words. I'm not sure there is an answer. There's only so much one can "turn up the volume". My solution is to avoid those gigs where people don't listen. It works for me (but might not work for you). Hope of help. Good luck!

Quote:
Some rooms just aren’t listening rooms. People are out to socialize and I’m just there to provide background noise, or a soundtrack to their evening. There are plenty of those situations where people aren’t paying attention, as well as plenty where they are. I don’t care if people flat out ignore me if I’m able to make my living playing guitar. That said, I do love it when they do pay attention. So many different types of gigs out there. I think cell phones, technology, and social media ruin gigs as much as anything.
