That is fantastic, Ed! I especially like the body and fretboard binding. Your Halcyons impress me as well. I need another Canadian guitar...
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mark! I'm a fan of Blackwood. These bindings came from dumpster diving back in the good old days, a set of sides I've held onto for about a decade hoping for a random back, but I figured if it hadn't turned up by now, it likely wouldn't, so, lotsa bindings!

Thanks!
Sadly, that's my second to last top from the 05-09 series I used to be able to get from the Larrivee shop. Hard to find stuff like that these days, at least for me. What's worse is that the first top, which was even nicer, got destroyed in the making. Nothing worse than losing good wood |

Ed, pardon me if I sound ridiculous, but when I think of "cedar" I think of a wood used for a guitar top, not back & sides. Is there something special about the flamed Spanish cedar that allows it to be a body wood? It is quite stunning...

Well, Spanish Cedar, as far as I know, is not actually a cedar. I use it in necks as a mahogany substitute often, and I really like it. Although the acrid bitter pine sap taste that gets in your mouth from working it is less than amazing. This is the only set of it I've ever seen or heard of (not that I have ever searched for another) for back and sides, I've had it for around a decade. I traded a rotary tool set for it with a guy at work and have no idea where he got it from...

I like the figuring of the grain on the back. It almost looks like a guy with a camera taking a picture
