I stumbled on this YouTube video, and was very impressed by the beauty of these instruments.
Though some of you might also enjoy this> https://youtu.be/5iP2bkFUj94

Could we also be looking at the prospect - for the first time in 50 years - of a genuinely-affordable, American-made, all-carved archtop...?

The next time they've got a good Stradivarius apart they should CNC catalog it!

Interesting, although I don't understand why he chose to use wood that were full of holes and therefore he had to fill the holes with resin. Seems like a lot of unnecessary work.

He had to send off to like Turkey or something to get that Olive wood... maybe you can't get big Olive boards...? I liked his resin patches and LED bling ... It though the whole thing was cool, especially his idea about using the slice since he couldn't bend the sides... someone needs to make a guitar out of a big Walnut tree or something like that ... -Mike |

It’s definitely a cool attempt, though the side integrity is compromised by the construction type.
Here’s a link to a giant machine that can do an entire violin neck, scroll and all. Amazing work. I’ve used these necks, I think - the finished product looks similar to the necks offered by large lutherie parts suppliers: https://youtu.be/5E0x-T4d5Rc |
