Default NGD Tom Anderson Hollow Cobra S

My local favorite guitar shop where I take my lessons decided to call it quits due to covid and the owner now reaching 70. Definite bummer.

I picked this one up from the owners home today.

Covers a lot of what my Jackson has become with great playability and a lot less yellow.IMG_20200523_193203234.jpgIMG_20200523_193147200.jpgIMG_20200523_193222696.jpg

Congratulations! That is a sharp guitar, and a nice strap too!!

I have a Cobra T, but not semi-hollow. I'll bet yours would make a great jazz box with that option.

Sweet! Sad news about the local store owner shutting down. Would the store have stayed open under new management if he had retired on his own?

Do the Tom Anderson have their own in house pickups?

Yeah, Tom started winding his own pickups in his kitchen a LONG time ago.

This particular one comes with the Tom Anderson HC1 and HC2 pickups.

I haven't done much setup wise yet to see where I can go with the tones but our of the box it has a nice combination of single style and humbucker.

As to the jazz box style, while this is chambered, the intent for me on this one was to replace my solid body with something lighter and complement my hollow body Collings.

It has been a father / son run shop and it looks like the father is going to help the son setup as an internet only Tom Anderson dealer.

From what I gather this is less about the financial impacts from covid and more just hastening a transition he was already thinking about.

Congrats on an AMAZING looking guitars.

LOVE that top.

Anderson guitars have just about everything I'd want in a guitar.

The usually have a killer top, they're usually under 7 lbs, the necks are amazing , an they sound incredible.

They're really hard to beat.

I own 2 Tom A guitars.

1) '99 Cajun Red Hollow Drop Top Class SSH I bought new .

2) '03 6120 Tiger Eye Hollow T Drop Top HSH I picked up 2 yrs. ago in a pawnshop for $1200.

These guitars are lifers, and will always be a part of my guitar collection.

Yep, I'm down to one electric, it's an Anderson Cobra, and it'll be the one I never sell.

My kid has been taking Mandolin lessons out of there. Used to be two independent guitar stores on that street. Now none.
