Stunning, just stunning. I love Howard's work.

That rosette is really killer.

I haven't posted photos of Scott's guitar in a few days, but I have been working on it. So here's a new batch of photos:

Gluing back braces:

Gluing the X brace

The X brace and bridge plate:

The neck sawed out, with truss rod installed. Mahogany, wenge, and curly maple.

Gluing on the neck extension. This guitar will have the fretboard extension elevated from the top.

Gluing more top braces. The go-bars are always so photogenic :-)

Howard:

Thanks for the post and your continued diligence. The laminated neck will really look cool given the ABW accent on the back and the bindings.

As a matter of fact, I wear eye protection when using or removing them. They can go flying!

More photos:

Top is fully braced.

Been working on the headstock. I gave Scott a bookmatched Brazilian rosewood face veneer:

Then for the rear backstrap veneers, wenge, curly maple, and madagascar rosewood:

I cut the headstock to a new shape. No pattern, just by eye, so this will be one-of-a-kind:

Then I bound it:

Howard,

Going in, I had a great deal of confidence that you would build an exquisite guitar for me. But, my friend, you are exceeding my expectations. The headstock is beautiful!!!!!! I can't comment on the bracing due to my technical ignorance; yet I am sure it will produce a great sounding instrument.

Thanks Howard!

Scott

I have the sides bent. Inner sides are Honduran mahogany. Here are the two pairs, ready for laminating.

Wow, the layered side wall construction should be really sweet!

Looking great Howard. You're on a roll! I have to say I love the look of your recurved sides, it looks especially great with a cutaway on the treble side.

Thanks for letting us have a peek, Scott. I have played several of Howard's OOs over the years and they have all been stellar. What a treat!

Best,
Jayne

Outstanding! A question about the go bars: do you have a certain order of placement? Do you have to alternate them as you put them into place? Hoe much pressure do they apply?

On some braces I start at the center and work toward both ends. On others I start at one end and work to the other.

The 3/16" fiberglass rods I'm using apply from 8-10 lbs. per rod.
