Default Exciting! New Mick Ronson (Bowie's Guitarist) Documentary

I just discovered that a documentary about the life and music of Mick Ronson was released in Feb of this year. It appears it's available for free on Hulu.

Here's the trailer:

For those who may not know who he was, he played with Bowie through the whole Ziggy era. His tone was legendary. Always been one of my faves.

scott: i remember reading about it and he was one of my favorite guitar players, but, alas, i don't have hulu. i'll have to wait until it comes out on pbs or elsewhere. from what i read, it wasn't thought of that highly, but i'd still like to see it.

play music!

Ronson also played a lot with Ian Hunter, after Hunter left Mott The Hoople.

Funny to see, in the trailer, Mick and Dylan later in the Rolling Thunder tour. I was at opening night of the Rolling Thunder review in Plymouth Mass. It was like a flannel shirt convention on stage and there was Mick in full Spyders from Mars costume. His playing won the crowd over quickly. That was a great show!

Thanks for posting! Ronno was an idol of mine -- when I was 18 I bought a white Les Paul Custom to emulate him. Slaughter on Fifth Avenue was a masterpiece -- I still have the vinyl!

Elton John originally recorded the song "Madman" during the Tumbleweed Connection sessions featuring a couple of scorching Mick Ronson solos. He recorded the version we are familiar with during the Madman sessions and the original was never officially released until the early 90s.

Mick Ronson also played some stunning lead guitar on Michael Chapman's brilliant Fully Qualified Survivor album. I'm somewhat gobsmacked to be reminded that it was released in 1970.

I've heard it said that his playing on this album led to the gig with David Bowie.

Liked his playing (and arranging skills). On my homemade pedalboard back in the day, I stuck a Dymo label strip with the title of his disappeared-almost-without-notice second LP: "Play Don't Worry"

Still words to live by.

There are a number of YT vids discussing how to replicate his setup and gear. But I'd still need his hands. I was, and remain, a huge fan.

I saw him once solo and several times with Ian Hunter. One of my favorite guitarists.

I can even forgive him for "Jack and Diane."

Nestled amongst Bowie's many skills was an incredible ear for tone and talent.

Smile Charmed Life Picks!

Thank you for this!!! I’ve always loved David Bowie, but never thought about his guitar player. Even though I usually think the guitar player; like Keith Richards and Jimmy Page. Glad to see the trailer and I’ll look for the full release. Thx again, Johnny

I might be wrong but I think you can get Hulu on your computer and play it there or on your tv. Check, I'm not positive.
