Default Couple of bridge pin questions...

1) Whats the next size up(or two) from a .208 wide bridge pin?

2) Any tricks to slightly widen the current .208s?

I'd like to keep the new MOP'd Tintul ones I got...they look great. They work but are looser than I'd prefer.

Thanks.

Narrow the holes......how is that done?

I was thinking of using some super glue around the shank. Shouldnt take much. ???

Put a thin film of 5 minute epoxy around the inside of the holes. Once hardened use a reamer to size the holes.

You could do that, but you'll probably need to accurately size the pegs with a shaver, IF you can add enough glue to actually increase the size. Super glues don't usually add much volume, particularly on porous materials like wood.

Either would probably work, but I think making the holes smaller is easier.

Another option that I have not tried, which follows from your idea of adding a liquid to the shaft of the pin to enlarge it MIGHT be to try something that is intended to expand the wood. But DON'T use it as you would for chair rungs. Apply it to the pins, let it dry fully before inserting pins into bridge pin holes. As I said, I've never tried this for this application, so, if you're feeling adventuresome, give it a try. I have no idea how much it would expand the pins. If it expands them too much, you're back to pin shaving.
