..... Good, if that's the case, then all you should need is a 1/4" nut driver. No truss tool should be needed.

Default Taylor truss rod wrench problem

I have friends that will injure themselves if you hand them a hammer. The manufacturers are being proactive in not providing truss rod wrenches to protect the guitars. If you are competent enough to use a truss rod wrench you should be competent enough to buy one.

Guys,

Please note the OP is in the UK. We have (mostly) used metric for many years now. Although it is possible to obtain 1/4” sockets/nut drivers you won’t just be able to walk into your nearest Home Depot equivalent and get one, and you will probably have to buy a whole set which will cost more than the official Taylor wrench. I got wrench’s when I bought both my Taylor’s but I have a friend who didn’t, and when I looked into getting him one it seems that the UK stores that list the official Taylor wrench seem to perpetually out of stock!

100% correct, yes, as I discovered. Buying a truss rod wrench of (supposedly) the right size online was not some exotic solution, it was the easiest and cheapest over here.

The latest on this... I popped round to see my local guitar tech and showed him the Taylor and the wrench, he pulled out the wrench he uses on Taylors and it fitted no problem, he tweaked the guitar also whilst I was there. Meanwhile the shop that sold me the wrench has offered a refund. Still not sure why it didn't fit but without taking precise measurements of both the guitar nut and wrench dimensions its hard to say, and I'd need a specialist tool for that.

It's a pretty safe assumption that the nut on the Taylor is 1/4".
