Often when I go to my favorite local guitar store,
the manager will be playing this 1944 d-28... one
day I'll go there and it will be sold, but one of those
"money and price is no issue" folks will probably
have to be the purchasers...

I've never seen an actual one, but a while back there was
a Dudenbostel d-18ish guitar on the classifieds here...
If those things are as good as that one looked, that would
be a good wish-choice...

I'd ask James Goodall to make a parlor guitar for me:
12 fret neck
rosewood deep body, cedar top
24.75 scale
solid headstock
no cutaway

If I was spending someone else's
money . This guitar would be in the running.
https://themusicemporium.com/guitars...-spruce-custom
1930s adi top
Quilted hog from "the tree"
Only 20k.
I would then get a mid 20s lloyd loar Gibson f style mandolin.
They're only half a million.

I don’t really look at (or play) guitars that are very far beyond my means. So I’d have to go and play some guitars: some vintage Martins, some Olsons, etc. I’d also want to use some of the pics and posts in this thread to give me some ideas about what to try. My guess is that I’d end up with a vintage 000. But one never knows....

Martin HD-35
None sound better to my ears. 1/4" scalloped bracing.

I'd have to say that I have all the guitars I need so can't really respond to the question. It's a good place to be. Now mandolin....?

At this point in my life. If I could only get one it would be in the Martin 000 series 28 min.

A 1959 Gibson Les Paul. But for acoustic, I'd have to really think about it. I've never played a Somogyi before but thinking that might be it.

I don't know. I've never played guitars in the "price no object" price range to know which I'd like most or whether I'd like it enough more than my $2000 acoustic to be worth the money, even if it the money was easy to come by. I'd love to check out a couple of the Pre-War Guitar Co 000 or OM models, which I guess still isn't really in the price stratosphere, but it just expensive enough to be on my list to possibly check out once SS and Medicare kick in a few years down the road. IF they kick in a few years down the road. Much beyond that, you're into custom makers or real pre-war vintage Martin type stuff and I'm not sure I'd want the hassle, as great as I know they'd sound.

In some ways it would be a nightmare. Almost too much choice. I also fear it would take away the desire for the nearly unreachable. Sometimes its the waiting, the anticipation the saving up and the chase that is so exciting .
Still, should the pot of gold arrive, I shall do my best!

Default What Guitar Would You Buy If Money and Price Was Not An Issue?

My current guitars are better than me, but since you ask...
I would commission a slope shoulder 12 fret;
1 13/16 nut; Cedar/mahogany; small sound port holes; armrest bevel ; maybe sunburst

I'm pretty happy with what I have and am not a professional player and work so I can't spend enough time with the ones I have, but.......

I tried a Collings Maple Jumbo and a D1AT that were extraordinary. I would also be interested in a Bog Oak guitar based on what I've heard on video.

A Kim Walker.

For a long time it was the top guitar on the list of guitars that I covet. A few years back, I made the wise decision to let the idea go. I just couldn't justify spending well over $30K for one guitar!!!!
