SN don't match
A good example of Gibson's Quantity Control.

It doesn't happen often but if they had a neck for a body and that neck didn't fit properly, and another did, they could easily have used a different neck for a better fit. Otherwise, the neck could have been replaced at a date later than the manufacture. I would go with the body/sticker serial number.

This might become an issue if you ever try to sell it. A prospective buyer might not buy the line that that's they way Gibson did it and think it is a counterfeit. Just a thought.

Good call! Customer Service: 1-800-444-2766
Although I have no Gibson acoustics, I have many of their electrics and have called them many times. They always came through for me on my questions, repairs, and warranty issues.

Just a typo on the sticker. I've heard of this before, and believe Gibson will probably send out a new sticker to match the number on the headstock. The headstock number is the correct one for that guitar, as it's stamped into the wood. Kind of a funny one-off feature of your nice Gibby, that took almost 25 years to be discovered. Hope it gives you years of playing enjoyment.

During the period your guitar was built before the advent of the J45 V , the use of the Banner was arbitrary. It was pretty much a decorative doodad Gibson slapped on a number of J45s. So I agree it is possible that for whatever reason Gibson ended up using a neck which already had the serial number impressed in the headstock in the build of your guitar. You might try contacting Gibson about it though to see which number was entered on the ledgers. Or try using both numbers on one of those serial number decoder sites.
We actually have a Gibson which has three serial numbers - a 1960 J200. It has the FON batch number on the neck block but also a label with an "A" prefix serial number. Not unusual as since the 1930s on certain models such as the Nick Lucas, Gibson used both a batch number and serial number which identified the individual guitar from that batch. But this guitar also has a serial number impressed on the back of the headstock which should not be there. That means that somewhere down the road the guitar had gone back to Gibson for repairs wherein Gibson stamped the serial number to on the back of the headstock to indicate it. In this case, however, Gibson got the last two digits of the serial number reversed.

Not uncommon for Gibson. I have a 1965 ES-345 that has ES-355 stamped on the label. It is most definitely not a 355.
