Modern acoustic instrumentals -intermediate level
I have a student that recently played a guitar arrangement of "River Flows in You" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_xFh7XFC_w)
I'm looking for suggestions of other modern "intermediate" level acoustic songs - my background is in classical and jazz so I'm not familiar with many acoustic instrumental artists (and most of their music that I've found so far is more challenging than what I'm looking for.) Please no suggestions for pop song arrangements, classical, etc. Mostly looking for stuff in that modern "pop harmony" style similar to River Flow in You. Thanks! |

Thanks for that video.
The chord melody playing of guitar music is all over the spectrum and available. If I had sources for you I'd list them here. Because I create them myself for my own fun I don't seek them out to listen to or learn. I should but I get caught up creating them and that's the better part of the fun for me. I think a person with a trained ear, fret board knowledge and a decent set of finger picking skills owes it to himself to make his own path. |

Here's some examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqdi6evOclY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAT5T1lj6WE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpRup9xI9QY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-08M9-vg3N8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-BOxivT_po https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAtiofihEu0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS5SfXbtzMM They vary in difficulty, of course, and you might consider one or two of them "advanced". One or two are in alternative tunings (drop D or DADGAD) The last one (DADGAD) is somewhat long, but the first section makes a nice solo piece on its own.
