Default Scratching An Itch! Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE - Vintage Sunburst

I just ordered an Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE - Vintage Sunburst, and it should be with me by mid-next-week. Over about 10 years, I've auditioned a few guitars of this model and was impressed with their tone and playability as well as the ESonic2 Shadow pickup/preamp system. Given the price of this model, and its all-solid-wood construction, it seems to be one of those solid-value instruments out there. An interesting aside: The Vintage Sunburst Epiphone DR-500MCE model is built in Indonesia but the Natural finish model is built in China. More to come on this guitar.

I purchased a natural finish one for my son last year. I'd tried several of them and they all sounded very good, and played very good as well.
If i'm not mistaken, they've been getting the factory PLEK treatment since around 2012.

I had one for about five years. I loved it! Nice warm tone. Enjoy!

I still own three EPI MB AJ-500s (slope dreads), two of which are exceptional. Believe ypu will be most impressed, Ken.

My 2012 Epiphone EJ-200 was made in Indonesia - can't fault it anywhere, it has the smoothest Grover Rotomatics I've ever felt - go figure!

I'd LOVE to see new management at Epiphone reintroduce the AJ models in the MB line
Those are sweet.

Major congrats! I've had several Epi Masterbilts from the 2004-2010 production run. Excellent guitars! We need to see pics when you get it!

You will like this DR500mce a lot. I've had mine going on two years and although it took a little sorting in the beginning of our relationship it has become a great daily driver for me. Mine is the tinted top from Indonesia, Plek'd from the factory with a rosewood fretboard(I think that has been changed to another wood source). The Shadow electrics are a great dual source system especially if you run it in stereo out. I run the piezo to a PlayAcoustic and the neck pick up to a pedal board. Big, big sound. Lot's of fun. Let's see some pics when your new sled arrives!

I'll post pictures and may just use the ones the dealer posted for this instrument. I also ordered the Epiphone EDREAD case with the guitar.

The nice thing about some dealers is they usually have photos of several guitars in a model to choose from--I had four. This gives a buyer the ability to choose the guitar that appeals to their standards of having the best-looking top, back and sides and tuner installation. Epiphone has gotten better at their quality control in the installation of tuners as in the past it was quite often that tuners were installed with the base of one or more of them protruding slightly past the edge of the headstock. Of course, a buyer choosing a guitar on visual appeal, without playing it, is taking a chance of whether or not the guitar will also have a great tone when it arrives.

I get complements on that case all the time. It is quite beautiful in real life.
