That's one of the early FG300s with the outward tapering headstock and definitely worth the money. Late 1960s, very early 1970s (before the headstock taper reversed). It's quite a desirable thing among collectors and was top of the FG range above the FG180. Despite the adjustable bridge they sounded good. It's hard to tell from the photo but it looks as though the pickguard hasn't begun to lift and distort-a common issue with the 300.

Yeah... I have a friend that may need cash and selling off some stuff and I'm thinking of doing the same.

Or... For $20 you can buy it and donate it to some kid or organization that services lower income youth.

The fact that it was the same kind used by the most controversial "master luthier" in the world makes that guitar PRICELESS!

I have only played & bought concert sized for last 10 years so the sound is WAAAYYYYY bigger than what I am used too.....The thing sounds absolutely incredible...

Yeah I bought the guitar for $20 to help someone out & put it in the shop & finances went south, south, south...Everytime I went to pick it up other financial considerations took priority.

Eventually I forgot about it, as it was an extra guitar and more of a favor to someone....LOL

I was playing my only current guitar & it was sounding thin & I remembered I had a Dread in the SHOP...

I NEVER play DREADS anymore...Having fun here, but man callouses are getting a new layer...

What a weird thread....

A friend with issues GIVES away a guitar (for $20) and somehow, this is a discussion? The guitar is OBVIOUSLY worth much more than $20 (what is that...4 Happy meals?) I couldn't take advantage of ANYONE, much less a friend, by doing this. And then, somehow, this 14 month old thread gets brought back to life....because the OP didn't have $80 to pay for the set up and it sat in the shop....for 14 months???? The OP is lucky the shop didn't sell it (for a LOT more than $100).....and I STILL don't get any of this.

To the above poster....I'm with you on the popcorn....
