I’ve still got the Size 3R I bought from Oxbow music in Chapel Hill brand new in 75. I don’t play it as much as I did then, but that’s not the fault of the instrument (I’ve become very much a mahogany guy—and prefer a wider fretboard now that I’m older and clumsier).

It does - it rings like a bell. It also handles dropped-D and DADGAD just fine. And the gold Schallers work perfectly. I'm lucky to have found it.

For information on how I acquired this guitar see the attached link. It’s a bit of a read but a truly, truly amazing story.

Don’t hate on me, but I graduated from NC State in 1974 Glad to meet another Tar Heel with a Gurian.

I graduated from NCSU twice, just a few years behind you. But you’ll recall that there weren’t too many guitar shops in Raleigh then other than Herb’s, and he was mostly electric. Had to go to enemy territory for acoustics. (Unless you wanted a 70s Martin from Poole’s.)

Small world, BlueWolf.
