A Taylor Appriciation with Soul
I am a lucky man..My small Ramuda of everyday guitars includes a Taylor K62ce .
My Vocalist wife (who I thank the gods had the great good sense to ask me to marry her) has been after me again to attend some open mics. I just had my 77th and have come to realize that despite ALL that old Age and Old Hands have limited my dexterity and alacrirty, I have gained FAR more in Finger Wisdom..... And the Taylor 12 string neck is a true tracking ,easy to play & Barr joy. For a solo act It's a very expressive intrument!

Just keep playing. I’m 75 and I can’t play as good as I once did but I keep playing because I love to play.

I'm 73 and If I may toot my own horn, I play better than ever because I really work at it. I'm tying to get better tying to stay ahead of age deterioration. As long as its two steps fowled, one step back, well, I guess I can live with that. But I do have a strategy of eventual decline. That will be sell everything and hope I have enough for a 20s Martin, or barring that, a great Santa Cruz.
I think playing a lot forestalls debilitating issues, but my arthritis is just average for my age, not severe. But my thumb hurts a lot, which I ignore when I can, and I've learned to lighten up.

I think it's cool to see guys in their 70s on a guitar forum. I personally know some folks that age that won't even get a smart phone. I'm still in my 40s (barely) but consider myself pretty firmly planted in the second half of life already. I'm never going to stop playing. If I live to be 100 I'll still play every day. I'm a firm believer that if we keep moving, we keep living. The old idea of "the used key shining the brightest" comes to mind. If I ever get to a place where my hands bother me, I'll use lighter strings, or go nylon, and if all else fails, I'll play lap steel or a dobro. There are options.
