iPhone snap (zoomed in a fair bit) of the sunset on last night's ride. Descent was done in the dark with lights, which is a blast. Saratoga Gap trails, near Saratoga CA. No edits, no filter, just cropped a bit. Amazing night. Should bring a real camera up there sometime.

The (thus far) nameless addition to our family! We're sort of waiting for him to name himself...lol

Aww, kego, what a handsome little dude!

If he were a she, I'd suggest "Penny."

How about "Copper" instead?

Yes a Roosevelt. From a herd of about twenty. It was early May so maybe they had not fattened up yet. The entire herd came over to check me out; to less than 10 feet. I started to get a little nervous as Roosevelt can get boisterous, but it was pretty cool. They sniffed me real close then went back to eating. That is my camper way off on the right.

Yes you especially want to be aware during the Rut (September) If they are acclimated to humans they can get aggressive at times

Indeed. One person shortly after this shot tried to pet one. They got severely head butted. I was not tempted to pet one. They may not be all that big, but they are big enough to hurt.

Looks like Prairie Creek S.P. in Humboldt?

An amazing fact is that the antlers can go from that size in May to
To the size below by August (this shot is winter, but the antlers start growing in April and stop mid August)

Took a drive down Namadgi National Park just south of Canberra the other day.
Seems to be a healthy population of Wedge Tailed Eagles currently.
Possibly due in part to amount of roadkill about.
Saw 3 pairs hovering around on the way down.
Stopped to get some snaps of this one perched in a burnt out tree.

Got lucky with this one. Stopped my truck in the road to take it. Had to get my window down and my camera ready quick as there was traffic coming up behind me. Plus these guys were getting nervous.

I submitted it to Channel 9 news out of Denver, and they showed it during last night's newscast. I didn't see it, but I'm getting texts from friends who did

Note the haze, that's due to the western wildfires.

Kind of a crap iPhone zoom situation, but an amazing night on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. The smoke from the Tamarack fire making for a killer sunset, sad as that blaze is, and the moon was incredible.
