Default Hybrid (wooden & CF) or CF Exclusive?

Good afternoon. I would like ask whether you guys are using Carbon Fiber guitar exclusively or enjoying the both world?

Updated:
Let me make it clear that, do will still

1. Keep playing some of wooden guitar and some of CF guitar. On the other hand, still need to do the maintenance for those wooden guitar, or

2. Playing CF guitar exclusively, so that nearly none of the maintenance are required.

Exclusively. All wood guitars have become wall decor only.

I assume you mean CF *or* wood, so answered accordingly.

I have both CF (2) and wood (1) guitars. I’ve owned the wooden one for 34 years, and it’s going nowhere - but I have to confess it gets little playing time compared to my two Emeralds.

I really don’t see it as an either/or situation. Both have their place, and very fine guitars can be made from either material. I also do not subscribe to the notion that there’s a CF ‘sound’, any more than that there’s a ‘wood’ sound. They all sound like excellent guitars to me, regardless of what they are made from.

Are they different from one another? Of course.

I voted CF exclusively because that is where I intend to be soon. However there will still always be one all-koa guitar and koa ukulele in the collection. But wood guitars have been leaving steadily for about five years, with only CF coming in.

Right now I'm strictly CF.

I voted for the "all carbon" even though I also have some wood acoustics. Like David and Earl, my carbon fiber guitars get all the playing time.

I should also add that while I plan to keep my Martin for as long as I can still play it, I think it’s unlikely I’ll ever buy another acoustic made of wood.

I love my CA GX, but I don't think I'll ever get rid of my HD28, and certainly not my 1937 Gibson L7. My luthier-built spruce over Tasmanian blackwood 00 that is on the way will probably be a keeper too.

Different guitars have different purposes. A while back I was recording a song and the tone of the GX simply didn't work as well as the HD28. Different guitars (and materials) for different purposes.

I don't think two responses are enough. I play wood ukes and will play wooden guitars if the time is right, but currently I only play my three carbon fiber guitars.

I skewed the results with my fat finger, hard to believe I can even play a guitar! Should have been both, at least for now...

You can get really nuanced here. For example, any number of Emeralds with woody veneers or an Emerald Kestrel with a wood bridge should, in the spirit of the poll, be counted only as CF guitars.

And what about Ovations which are neither fish nor fowl?

Hmmn, I assumed he meant guitars that are constructed from both carbon fiber AND wood, like the KLOS, or some of the really old Rainsongs which had carbon tops on wooden bodies.

I don't really see the advantages of hybrid construction. A wooden neck (KLOS) is going to be less subject to humidity and heat than a full CF build, but not nearly as impervious as a full composite build.

I have wooden guitars, I have CF guitars, I don't have any Hybrid ones nor would they appeal to me.

A clear example of the need for clarity

I assumed what I did, primarily because there are hardly any hybrid instruments out there, as you point out.

Sorry for the confused. What I mean is that most of us are used to have both wooden guitar (like Martin, Taylor etc) and Carbon fiber guitar. However, the sound is quite difference. So, do will still

1. Keep playing some of wooden guitar and some of CF guitar. On the other hand, still need to do the maintenance for those wooden guitar, or

2. Playing CF guitar exclusively, so that nearly none of the maintenance are required.

Both. I'm a recent convert to CF (less than a year) but now have two in hand and another on the way, with plans for a 4th, BUT I'll never give up my Lowden or my old Larrivee. I play them all...
